Yeah, I've been reading around a bit this morning. Looks like the trains are fairly infrequent on the Minobu Line and the best one gets me in to Kofu at around 11.30 (kick off at 2). That being the case, I may just ride to central Kofu and have lunch in town before getting a bus to the ground a bit later.

Not that anyone cares, I'm sure, but tomorrow's little jaunt to Kofu is off for a fortnight due to girlfriend pressures (ie. endless earache and guilt trips). So all being well I'll be there on November 7th for the day, including what must be a certain three points for the home team: Kofu v Giravanz Kitakyushu, and a possible promotion party, but probably a bit too early for that. Either way, I get a lie in tomorrow. :)

Kitakyushu's new Stadium may become a reality:

If this becomes a reality, the club official has chose very good site, as access to this place is incredible. The nearest station is the Kokura station, in this station, you have the Sanyou shinkansen running from Osaka to Fukuoka, you have local Kitakyushu Monorail station, as well as a JR station that connects all over the Kyushu region.

    Japanese stadiums

Here you can post anything about stadiums in Japan, like pictures, videos or construction news.

    http://www.stadiumzone.weebly.com

is my favorite stadium site, they have videos of all J. League clubs. Saitama Stadium is really impressive, absolutely one of the most beautiful venues in the world. Been there once and it's great! By the way, does anyone know a good Japanese soccer forum?

    Re: Japanese stadiums

With respect "they" don't have videos of all the stadiums. For S-Pulse (and looks like many others) the link just leads to a third party YouTube video (in S-Pa's case - one of my own vids!).

They better have a stadium they can fill.

Its more important to get VIP boxes, restaurants and those kind of facilities than building a 40k ground.

Let's just wait until the will start something. Talks begun in 2009 and until now there's one problem after another. Patience is necessary on this one.

I personally think 25K is enough for Gamba.

With their attendance, 25-30k is probably enough. But there are higher ambitions for the new stadium and that's to be able to hold international and ACL games. In addition, another soccer-specific stadium will be a boost should Japan decide to bid for the World Cup again.

Me personally, I'd love it to be around 40k+ just for the international capacity even though it might not fill up for J. League games. Gamba attendance will probably increase once the new stadium opens, especially if the supporters have their way and a single stand (instead of the tiered stands all around) is implemented into the design.

You don't want to increase the supply (number of seats) too fast, because that will decrease the demand (when it is easier to get tickets), and it will ultimately reduce the attendance. You really have to balance it so that some fans (about 5%) will have hard time getting tickets...

Yes I agree with Shuvy, its complicated but theres a reason why newbuild stadiums in europe usually are smaller than what most people expects.

Offcourse it is easier to play this game if the TV-rights for the league game also give you a higher income than J-League gets inside Japan today.

Oh a fingertip, theres a global rule in attendance growth when building a new stadium. The first year almost always gives 40% up compared to the old.

I just don't want to see another Kashima example. Kashima Soccer stadium used to sold out every game at 17K. After expansion, they averaged about 21K in 40k Stadium. Sometimes there are games, where attendance goes below 15K at Kashima.

Well Kashima stadium is a fantastic stadium, however It must have been obvious that it would be a ground that would never be near filled because of the size compared to the city size.

Antlers is a village club afterall.

Do you know what the initial capacity will be. I am happy that a club that could end up with being champions shouldnt play in that small stadium.

I've also heard that Jubilo are working with realistic plans to extend to 20k. Do anyone know about this? I mean Its not that Jubilo have sold out every match.

Do those stadium extensions have anything to do with the J-League wanting to change the stadium requirements from 15000 seats to 20000 seats?

Reckon they'll incorporate some proper toilets into that new stand? Those portakains were foul. :(

As for Jubilo. they have Ecopa ten minutes down the train line so really don't need to expand the Yamaha.

Its not all about being able to pull people in in more space, Yamaha Stadium is owned by Yamaha so more money to Yamaha (and maybe to Jubilo) than just pay higher rent at Ecopa.

Many are forgetting its not the size of the stadium thats important but the number of money the clubs get down their pocketts.
