I filled out a form and sent it in. Feel horrible for anyone who came home expecting to watch the game on their dvr, and found Nascar instead. We already had a game bumped because of the Little League WS, and almost had the CR games opening minutes not shown, due to a US Open match. Time to demand a little respect.

The more who fill out the form, the more it will help. Please fill out and send.

It was a friendly. It's not like they completely took it off the air. Go watch it on ESPN3

I did watch it, live. This is for everyone, so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Do you have the ability to look past yourself? Think past today? Do something nice? I filled it out so this hopefully wouldn't happen to other people. You know, try to do the right thing? Or did that all just go right over your head?

Clearly the all of the forward steps that ESPN/ABC has made over just the past five years have gone over your head. They have done nothing but push the shit out of soccer and people like you are still ungrateful that, in a country where several sports are superior to soccer in terms of viewership (including NASCAR), you have to flip one more channel to see your game. Seriously are you that much of a crybaby? ESPN does whats best for them, welcome to the real world and stop being such a crybaby because your game is on a different channel.

The problem isn't that it was on a different channel Brand... the problem was that the change was made last minute and without warning so everybody who recorded the game got screwed.

Dude is obviously trolling. Yeah they've done so much to promote soccer that they put it behind NASCAR, tennis, and 12 year old amateur baseball. Give me a break.

Done. I hate ESPN almost as much as I hate Internet Explorer.

"I'm writing to express my frustration regarding the broadcast change of the US v Belgium soccer match yesterday. It's very aggravating to expect to watch or record an event on one channel just to find out it's been replaced by another. This is the third US game in a row that's been delayed or moved. Why would you even bother showing soccer if you don't consider the viewers? Just don't cover it & let Fox Soccer Channel have the games. Many fans don't watch matches on ESPN because of your apparent lack of knowledge of the game. From the camera angles, to replays all the way to the commentating. Soccer is seemingly unimportant to your network. For instance, notice that broadcasters on other networks don't mention results from other games during a broadcast. Because many fans are recording all the games from the day. Your Saturday morning EPL coverage spoils an entire day of soccer. This is the internet age. If someone wants to find out a result they don't even have to leave their chair."

You know how they still have no respect for soccer?

Watch US Open tennis and see if they have that stupid ass ticker at the bottom on espn2. It makes wide-screen picture not normal looking as a pure 16:9 ratio.

Why do they have the stupid ticker when soccer (USMNT, EPL, etc..) is shown
but not when US Open is broadcasted? Don't want to piss off tennis fans?

Look when people are watching soccer, they do not care about scores from other stupid ass sports, else they would have turned to espn news or friggin sportscenter.

    LOL. You suck ESPN !!!

Funny thing is I had to put my letter under Soccer World Cup instead of USA Men's Soccer, as there were no available topics under which to file it -- maybe a manufacture of a technical problem to cut down on their volume? Wouldn't be surprising

    My letter:

"Yesterday's USA vs Belgium match was on in the afternoon when I was at work, and scheduled to be on ESPN. When I came home to watch the game on my DVR, instead, I got NASCAR -- apparently the USA game must have been bumped to another network. This is especially disappointing considering that this was during the day on a weekday, and so many USA fans have now missed a chance to watch the game. ESPN could address this by re-airing it. But really, ESPN would better serve USA fans by picking a channel and sticking with it, rather than bumping coverage. I'm sure this example of bumping USA was the most egregious offense of recent memory, and there are sure to be many unhappy USA soccer fans. Please do better. We depend on you."

Can we stop already with this "It was only <insert excuse here> of a game, so it doesnt really matter.." crap?

US games arent like baseball (daily) or like NFL (weekly), or even remotely close. So when the US team plays it is a relatively big event regardless.

And anytime I here that stupid excuse, it could be the world cup semi-final, and you would still be saying "well, it isnt THE final, so ..".

    I have heard people say:

    1) well it was only a friendly.

2)It was only a qualifier, but we already qualified...

3)It was US Mexico, but only a friendly..

    4) It was a tournament, but not the world cup.

Give it a rest. Or at least draw the line so all of us "uninformed" know what events ARENT suitable to be pushed around by the geniouses at ESPN.

And again, people are pissed b/c of the DVR issue. Nothing else. And that it totally legit.

Anybody notice how except for the world cup last year,

they never use super slomo replay, sideline camera angle, behind the goal camera angle?

Instead, they use the same birds eye camera view used in Monday night football.

It's surprisingly lame, but not at all unexpected, that ESPN's webform won't even let you select Soccer - US. If you do, you cna't select a "topic" so you can't submit the form.

I'm not surprised that there are ESPN apologists out there, but really, ESPN is doing a shitty job with soccer. I can't wait for NBCSports to give them a run for their money.

out of their control. Live events push over all the time and unlike soccer they dont plan ahead with a pregame and post game reports that can be removed.

What if a soccer match was under way and went into overtime just to be changed to Poker b/c that's what was on schedule for that time frame?

Unfortunate circumstances, but ESPN has ways for those who missed it b/c they were recording it to view it. And just b/c you dont agree with brandino's post doesnt mean he's trolling.

i suspect it boils down to the cameras at the venue.

This is the funniest one on their part because of the way they hyped it before hand. I can't find the post, but in some press release they emphasized that they were having the studio crew with "emmy award winner Bob Ley," a pre-game, on-site, Sportsnation, and extra cameras or something like that. And then they bumped it for little league.

It is in their control. I maybe would understand if it only happened once, but three times in a row is ridiculous and inexcusable. I don't see how anyone can defend ESPN here unless they are trolling.

Anyone remember watching the qualifiers for Italia 1990 live and commercial free?

    Yeah, that was awesome.

    Also, this.
Basically, you take the three quotes, turn it into an article, and you're got an excellent op-ed piece if anyone other than us actually cared about it.

Typically when the preceding event is over they go back to originally scheduled programming, which wasn't the case yesterday. Everyone who DVR'ed the match could have at least watched the second half.
