Even the examples you mentioned, add Ronaldo are wingers attackers except for Cesc and that how it is, midfield is a key position and midfielders mature later because the position demand atleast solid 6 performance if not top 7 8 9 one and potential tend to be inconsistent, look at Welbeck nowhere in the first half a goal and he looked like taking on the world.

He has had a frustating last 2-3 years with a combination of illness and not playing enough football besides his loan spell with Watford.

I think he needs to find stability and like you say Barry, if he cannot find a way into this depleted squad at Arsenal...he has no chance.

Just hope he finds the right move.

Lansbury was also hinting on his twitter page that he might be leaving a while ago. Like you say hopefully if he's going to move it is the right move.

I hear Frimpong is running his mouth in Twitter about the nasri deal. He could be the Ghanian version of Joey Barton .

Yeah man, been giving Piers Morgan a load of shit too. For once I'm on Piers side, Frimpong seems a bit of a dickhead.

    Josh y'mean?

He's a technical playmaker but can get a foot in and get forward for a goal threat too. Ancelotti had him playing deep but I think he can play further forward as he can beat people and shoot. He won the UEFA U17 shindig with Barkley, Conor Wickham and others, beating Spain in the Final.

I can only find a few of those crappy 'loud music and dodgy filming' specials that passes for analysis on Youtube but this should give you an idea.

Mattock plays 45, outside chance of making the squad. Caulker and Baker don't make it off the bench.

Dissapointing that Caulker wasn't given a chance tonight.

Marvin Sordell scored for Watford and John Marquis played full 90 for Millwall.

Not really. I think it shows that Rodgers considers him first choice.

At least Wickham ended up getting a decent amount of time on the pitch. Going out limits chances to play games though.

Nice to hear Kyle Bennett had a really good game tonight for Doncaster Rovers, a former England youth player. He was released from Wolves on the basis that he was too small, standing at 5ft,5in.

was only able to follow Wickham's progress on Twitter. mixed reviews - some saying he had bright patches, others voracious over how "rubbish" he was/is. anyone here have an objective pov, ignoring the fact Sun'land were knocked out?

Wickham has put himself on course to be the new Frazier campbell with that terrible career move.

It's a good case for not pushing players too quickly, too early.

I never rated Lansbury - even years ago when he was highly rated. Pongo however, I thought he'd do big things even before he'd got his first year "apprenticeship" in the academy going. And was disappointed when he dumped us before the u17 Euros.

Thought Flanagan would get fasttracked by Pearce. Looks like there is no Jenkinson then, I wonder if he turned us down or if Pearce didn't just call him up. The inclusion of Frimpong is laughable, he doesn't want to play for England ffs.

    Very interesting squad indeed.

It now confirms why Butland, Flanagan, Wisdom & Barkley weren't with the u19's. Because we were only speculating that one or two of them might have made the u21's. Also throws up another debate about Coady & Robinson being left out of the u19 squad.

Some good players missing due to injury like Rose, Clyne & Mutch.

Other players not picked are Townsend, Gardner & Tunnicliffe but was expecting it.

Aslo a double shock of Frimpong & Aneke both getting England call-ups within the space of a week.
