Yes, stay in Center City Philadelphia, there is nothing for you in Chester apart from the game. Take SEPTA train from Philly to Chester Transportation Center, and the team runs a shuttle to the stadium. Some soccer-friendly bars in Philly run shuttles directly to the stadium too, look over in the Union forum for details.

Looking forward to welcoming some Toffees fans.

Anyone coming over for the game in philly and hoping to do some sightseeing should do 2 nights in Philly. the sights in Old /city are worth a day. Someone mentioned a taxi to Chester. Big mistake. Take SEPTA. The Union FO can give you specifics on getting to PPL Park.

Historical sites you have Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Constitution Center, Christ Church graveyard (Ben Franklin and a couple other signers), Ben franklins house, Presidents house, Betsy Ross house, Jewish American museum, African American museum, and walking tours around Old City. Historical churches with great stories.
Art and Culture, you have Philadelphia art museum, Univ of Penn museum, Rodan museum, Curtis building, Jefferson hosp with numerous pieces hanging throughout campus, Barnes museum soon to move to the parkway. Franklin institute. Mutter museum. Numerous libraries of varying sizes and scope. US Mint, US Custom house, First stock exchange. Numerous colleges also offer interesting events. And that is only in Center City.
Just saying a few days doesn't do the city justice.

you forgot the most important thing: The Rocky Statue and Stairs!!! (yes i know you said the museum but still!!! I ran up those suckers carrying at 35lb+ 4 yr old and my friends super heavy "pocketbook" which has everything except a sink in it... phew exhausted when I got to the top :D

I also enjoyed (if that's the right way to say it) the creepy eastern state penitentiary. Al Capone did time there.

Eastern State Pen. That is a surreal place. I went there at night. Ooops never again. There is also a boat load to see outside of Center City. I forgot a list of arboritums(misspelled) and the largest city park in Fairmont park.

Of course if you should happen to be in Philly on a Sunday morning with your daughter for a college visit(Drexel)there is no food to be found anywhere in a 6 block radius. I simply refuse to believe all those people who keep telling me how great the food in Philly is, it doesn't exist! :D

Yes. There is you just need to get a visitors guide. I can name retaurants near Drexel, as in a block. Also U of Penn has a number of great places next to it.

We were there at 8am for this and the only place to get food that was open was a DD and a Starbucks. We walked around the whole area. Sure there were lots of restaurants around but NOTHING was open.

There you have it 8am college part of the city. Some places were just closing. Center city which is 5 minute cab ride from University city would have a number of places open. Hopefully next time you'll find one.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

To the Everton faithful, thanks for visiting PPL Park last night. Our youngsters had a good run out there against you and it was a pleasure to see some of your world class players out on our pitch. Good luck in the EPL this year - and get yourselves into Europe!!!

we looked really out of shape, and the weather was crazy. PU wanted to beat the epl team. I do think considering this is Evertons, what, 3rd game in several months, they aren't used to the heat and that PU is top of the east and dominating mls to a degree, that we showed great style to keep it down to 1-0.

I am furious that the ref ignored the lines man and sent johnny heitinga off. what a load of bull.

Props to the Union tho, every teams' management should be made to visit their park and see the way they treat the fans - the music after the goal, the consessions to the Sons of Ben in their end (capo stands, flags, smoke etc) I couldn't believe how hyped up the crowd got after the goal with the music etc. It was fun to see.

I still hate you. you know how it goes. :)

    COYB!!!

I don't blame you for wanting to win either. I'm going to the Union vs Real Madrid. I'll probably enjoy watching Ronaldo destroy our team but I want the union to win.
