Udinese is a small team in a small town but they buy smart like Porto does. With the relationship with bigger clubs it is not crazy to think that they can be a top 5 team in Italy and play consistently in Europa League and at times in Champions League. Big teams are made by results.

They can make 100 million this summer

Zapata, Asamoah, Inler - At least 15 million each
    Sanchez - 25-30 million
    Armero, Handanovic(GK) - 10-15 million each

not to mention all the Granada guys that don't even play for them that other teams want:eek:

Zapata says Liverpool and Bayern are real targets for him and his preferred places to go

Glad it looks like he will be given the chance to start in the Copa.

I was afraid Bolillo would go with Perea.

    exactly

I think this is our best defense. People like Aquivaldo but he really isnt a young and comer at 30 years old and if we are going for experience with Zapata I prefer Yepes.

    SOOOOOOOO Glad LAP isn't starting

I don't trust Yepes to play that many matches in that short of time span. I think Aquivaldo has more stamina at this stage of his career but hey, Yepes is the Captain and this is his last chance at a trophy in Yellow IMHO.

I hope Yepes bows out after this tournie is done. Hopefully he wins and bows out gracefully but only if we aren't stuck with LAP starting with Zapata

I just hope they try something different if we face chile again. I think in all 3 losses the centre backs were yepes-zapata (?) at least the last 2 games...we really need someone faster than yepes for that game.

thats true... i like yepes... for all what he means for the team... but if we faced chile.. then i wouldnt use yepes for that game

im not scared of Chile.. but yepes offers too many adventages fot the other team when the strikers are fast

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!

i have been preaching this non-stop since a year ago...and most people criticized me for being too harsh on him....

10 years ago - i would have said he was amazing, but when you don't play at the club level that much, it's hard to have the stamina to play 3 games in 7 days.

i know it's his last chance at a trophy - but it's not about him - it's about everyone else too on the team...

I am with you. I think he should be benched.

    BUT...

...also keep in mind he is the captain. He is not just an ordinary player, he is a leader.

a function of improper development of the 25-30 year old generation of players on the team.

that's the fault of the managers constantly rotating and trying out different players over the course of the 2006 and 2010 campaigns.

seeing falcao captain porto on a few occassions (colombian captaining porto in his 2nd year) leads me to think he could be a leader for the 2014 generation

but i don't want this to veer too much off topic.

at some point zapata needs to be a core player on the team - that hasn't happened over the past year. that's the purpose of friendlies to get momentum and a rhythm established. same can be said of aquivaldo - both seem like they are being left behind when they should be featuring more often...

NOOOOO he cant go to Liverpool

edit: Yepes was in the squad that won Copa America in 2001 so he's lifted a trophy with the yellow jersey.

can't wait for this game, and yes, Yepes won the copa america in 2001, he's actually the only player left over, so I'm surprised you guys are saying it's his last chance, he already did it at 25.

It is his last chance to win a major trophy does not mean he did not win it before. It just means after this (I think) he will not play in another major tournament.

Then again some argentinos say that 2001 does not count. :p

Empeo a tomar fuerza la llegada de Zapata al Liverpool, se habla de un pre-acuerdo segun ESPN.

Varios fuentes ya dice que está listo su paso a villarreal

(I wish I had the handpalm image here)

crappy price and a horizontal move, at very best he'll have the same success there as in udinese, but it's defenitely not a huge step upwards...
