Arsene won't sell to a direct rival I imagine, but he would be on the cheap as he is in his last contract year. I think he would do really well for us. Just don't think it is likely.

hearing it thrice in stereo does not make it correct...

so if Messi was playing for Inter rather than Barca you would absolutely refuse to have him

but I do recall how ya'll's similar never a Holland League player here logic explained why Suarez was a complete bust here

i think the original post was that there IS a risk. and that that risk is greater than some others. i don't know if anybody actually REFUSES to have him come here.

the conversation has become polarized though.

and i think most here would have taken suarez.

I would also take Sanchez, risk or no.

As for Modric, I'm hoping we come in with an improved offer and continue knocking on their door at the same time till we unsettle the player. All's fair etc...

read some speculations that Arda Turan for 18m....I've seen the kid play last year against czech and did impress me a bit. Not sure if he is up to chelsea standards though. Especially since its a Guss purchase and we all saw how Zirkov worked out.

And Zhirkov has what exactly to do with Turan? And Zhirkov's Chelsea career being blighted by injury has what to do with Hiddink?

If Guus brings Arda Turan with him, what other targets does that most likely eliminate? Turan is a left winger or attacked midfielder, so I'm guessing Sneijder and/or Pastore and/or Hamsik are most likely out? Modric would still be in play? I'd like to nab a marquee striker with more experience than Lukaku, ala Aguero, but I can see the need for a bonafide right winger.

And is Arda Turan a step down from the above mentioned, or not? I haven't watched much Turkey football.

This will get verrrrrry interesting once Guus is inked.

besides his injuries...did he live up to expectations?

Is zhirkov the quality player that we are looking for in as a Chelsea player? Same can be asked about Turan.....

I don't think he really eliminates the players mentioned, more like it would eliminate Malouda or Zhirkov; actually I think Turan and Sanchez on the free right would take us not exactly but similarly to the Robben and Duff at their heyday ways and Turan would mostly cover the left and cut in, while Sanchez hit the middle/and or right and the same could be said for Sneijder (less right though) and Hamisek, with those more as a # 10 or middle or second striker/AM hybrid presence. Don't think it would effect Modric either as really we really need an attacking upgrade on the left, in the middle, and on the right, though may be a sign Neymar is a lost cause.

A big caveat, I have not seen that much of Turan at Club Level, and not that extensively for Country but my impression has been very positive, so though he would not be my first choice or three, that is more out of lack of familiarity than anything else and a new gaffer shoud get a player he really wants.

Also despite my subtle hints don't think we have been or will be that serious about getting Sanchez and he likely will go to ManUre or La Teatra de Ninas

Now if Man U actually get Sanchez and Sneijder on top of Young:eek:, I will be taken away in a white truck and not the fun kind with bells and iced treats

And how would Thiago fit into all of this?

    http://footybunker.com/talks-open-between-chelsea-and-barcelona-for-15m-arsenal-target/4540

Too young to be a factor next season, a loan possibility, or just what?

I need to see Turan play, but damn, lobo, you paint a tasty picture, I must admit. :)

I don't see Thiago coming here whatsoever, especially when he's being tipped in some circles as the "next Xavi".

We should have probably used one or two of our "unwanteds" as a makeweight in the Modric offer. But who?

Dont see the issue. I really dont think in the end that's how much he will go for, but I wouldnt have an issue. He's 19 and already damn f'n good, he has the talent to in the few years be on the level of a Ronaldo or Messi. He would be worth the cash. We paid 50 million on Torres, a 27 yr old injury prone player.

Thing is we already made our super ultra big fantasy signing in Torres. No way in hell do I see Roman dropping that kind of money on another player in quite a while. I said this already, but we really, really shouldn't have bought Torres if we planned on getting Neymar.

The more I watch the more I really think he is the real deal, but risks include he goes to ground a bit easy and may not like how physical the League is, though I think he can be taught and peer pressured out of the former and my hunch on the latter is he would be up to it here

But 41 million for a player who has not yet played in Europe or truly lit the world on fire, yet, seems quite silly, whether we should go that far or close depends a fair bit on what our Plan B's are and how big in total we are willing to spend, might be better to let Real spend it or call their and Santos bluff, and buy 2-3 players and in January buy the odd man out from Real if we like him or him for less if Real drops out of the bidding.

That said an exciting player I'd like to see in Blue, love how he plays and dribbles with his head up

Hopefully Roman does some crazy shit and makes a super computer our manager and it will stream information through a cyborg version of Jose Mourinho so the players respect him and all that jazz.

My guess is that he stays at Santos. He doesnt strike me as a Jose type of player and would seem to be excess to Madrid's needs at the moment. Wouldnt put it past them though to pony up that type of cash for him and a few other players this summer (especially a new Maka).

seems to be his main goal will be interesting to see who he goes for

with Ronaldo, DiMaria, Benzema, Higuin et-al does seem Neymar would be unneeded expense but that has never stopped them before, seems they need a target striker most (there is talk of Dzecko there though)

In these cases our evaluators, scouts and soccer braintrust earns their money. They should be able to see what Neymar is worth and project how much better he can be and most importantly how he'd fit with others like Torres, Sturridge, Lukaku, et al. Neymar is worth whatever Roman & Co. deems Chelsea's needs to be to win.
