I remember brilliant balls John Terry has hit. Mikel, for me, will always be his at his best in a Chelsea shirt when playing as a holding mid. It is there in which he flourished during our double winning season and even the season beforehand. He could be a starter for the next 5 years at that position.
The question mark I have over him as a midfielder who played further forward is his shooting. The truth is he DOES sometimes get forward for us now but when he does, and gets into a shooting position, the results are often woeful.
One of the arguments I put forward for a similar player who is generally an attacking player, but plays deeper in midfield now... was: When you dont get as many chances to lock n load, it can affect you. Not just as far as getting rusty, but your confidence as well. Could you imagine if for example someone like Elano or even Seedor was played deeper than normal? The goal tally would drop, as woudl confidence. The proof is there with Seedorf. This season when he was finally released from al that defensive work, he started to score goals each week.
Blatter has asked a Spanish Opera singer to be a FIFA advisor in the midst of the corruption allegations. That's what I would have done too...
Seedorf has always been renowned for having a great strike, whether he is played defensively or offensively. Mikel has always, ALWAYS had a horrific shot. Being played in certain positions doesn't change your inherent ability to strike the ball. Basically my final thoughts are I am COMPLETELY content with having Mikel remain a holding mid for us because he does it absolutely perfectly and can be a starter there for many years to come.
My next question then is, how do your ate his oeverall defensively? His positioning? The timing of his tackles? He's been thrown into the fire... in that respect right?
and said he's not going to start an investigation into the 2022 WC vote. i CAN'T WAIT for all of the reform that's about to happen.
IMHO i think he still needs to add a bit more to his defensive side, but since Essien passing has been beyond shit this season hes become our best DM, and i think next season he'll be one of our best MF. As for his ability to play in a more Advanced role, i really really really wanna see him play on the right side of a 433 like where ramies plays, i dont see him at the tip of MF for example due to his lack of speed and inability to strike the ball. but tbh, whatever the new manager will be, next season or after that, i think he will always be utilized as a DM.
Watching Australia v Serbia in a friendly , no Ivan , Vidic but a decent game thus far. Adam Ljacic has been extremely lively , reminds me alot of Kaka in the way he plays.
teves talking smack on manchester, says its a shitty city with nothing to do why move there then, oh yah, the money, thats the difference between great players and legendary ones
Yeah. Took Spurs a few years and a lot of money to get back to 5th after getting rid of him. Would be a good choice for many of the teams in the Prem.
Well, he wasn't 5th when he left to be fair... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/7063013.stm Having recruited the likes of Darren Bent, who cost £16.5m, Gareth Bale and French defender Younes Kaboul during the summer, Tottenham had high hopes of challenging for a Champions League place. But Spurs suffered a disastrous start, recording just one victory - the 4-0 win over Derby in August - in 10 league games and since the reported meeting with Ramos, Jol has faced constant questioning over his future.
True, but Ramos didn't exactly take them to new heights. Think there was more to their struggles than Job. Either way I think he is good for a mid level side.

Yikes, missed so many soccer matches since the club season ended. Hard to keep track of these things since I've been in the states.
...and people wonder why clubs look to Africa, eastern Europe and France for their future stars. PS. I love Manchester, Tevez needs to get out more.
SSN reporting that Phil Jones at Utd having a medical. Interesting pick up as I thought Utd would not spend in this area but perhaps they have concerns about the fitness of Rio. What a novel concept- to address a potential area of need before it becomes a huge issue within the squad.
well it all falls back to having a manager that is there long enough to recognize potential faults with the players. we'll never see that....at least for awhile
Phil Jones would be a good pickup. I still remember when he shut out Drogba very effectively a while back. I think it was on his first Prem start if I remember correctly.
correct looks like Villa are speaking with Benetiz Sunderland bidding for Wes Brown and Darron Gibson Neuer goes to Bayern, so it sems likely that De Gea is heading for Utd.
