Yes, he did play this weekend for the Academy. I am sure he can't have been happy about that. I heard they picked him in order to try to win some games but it made little difference. The Quakes Academy team struggled. Also I heard that they are looking to have some new Academy coaches next year.
I believe Wondo's brother is the current Quakes Academy coach but I heard he isn't that good of a coach......
That seems sort of weird that they're allowed to just borrow professional players. Wondo's brother is only an assistant coach.

Not sure what the reason was for releasing Omar but to me it is another in a long line of bad management decisions. It was obvious the kid had great potential and was one of the only players we have that can take players on 1 v1. He was very raw but with some actual coaching I could have seen him developing into a very special player at least at the mls level. Good luck to him whether he stays in mls or heads to europe. Keep running out the re-treads while we continue to lose games.
Yallop prefers mature players that don't require any babysitting...less work for him. But some of his mature players that he prefers because they're established good pros, just aren't good on the field and don't produce. I think the established dogma that young players should steer clear of Yallop is true. There may be fire to the smoke that Jasseh had an attitude problem; but even so, it's a failure of the coaches of finding a way to bring a raw, but talented, young player along and help him grow up at a young age.
Sort of get where you're coming from, but have to debate you on the talent issue. Yeah, he had some speed and could dribble, but unfortunately, in every game we ever saw him displayed a soccer IQ equivalent to Gary Radnich's. All we ever saw him do was take the ball down the side at lightning speed and then lose it and flop. I just don't think he was anything we hadn't already seen in Salinas or Alvarez...
If MLS had or utilized it's resources, each club could park 100 to 150 kids into their systems and bring up the raw but talented young players. As it is, MLS is still bush league when it comes to such despite throwing the name Academy and reserve around (can't call it minor league because that would say that MLS has a proper minor league system!) Omar is probably 5 to 10 years ahead of MLS' workable schedule to be developed long-term in a MLS youth system. And, honestly, from what little we saw of Jasseh, he was all flopping rabbit on the field and the Quakes saw enough of him in practice and reserve/Academy games to see that they didn't have the time required to bring him along. Perhaps he will find a club somewhere that does.
a better play would of been releasing gjoey and keeping omar as his salary is about 30k less. with peterson starting and baca as a back up @ right mid jasseh would of been 3rd in the depth chart with a huge upside. gjoey is not going to get any better at this stage and although i do like him i think jasseh would of been a better long term investment. stupid move jd & fy.
the rumor i heard (sorry, can't reveal my source) was that Omar's work ethic was pretty poor. he did everything pretty half assed. when i initially saw him, i had high hopes. but after seeing him a few more times i could see that his work ethic was pretty poor. i believe he COULD have a huge upside...but he's gotta want it. good luck to him.
I know! Especially Sealy: The guy goes off to Israel (where he bombs) and JD can't sign him quickly enough... Let me guess: His salary now is higher than when he was with us the first time, right?
I wasn't impressed with Jasseh's performance against Chivas but.......still Jasseh > Gjerstan >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sealy.
Way higher. In September 2008 he was on $34,729. That contract expired and he left for Israel. He bombed there and came back in 2010 on $145,000 and is now on $157,000. It's expected that he wouldn't stay at that $35k, but he's done nothing to deserve one of our higher wages. In MLS, he's worth about $95k tops, and that's solely because he used to score a few goals for KC. He's done nothing in years.

Sounds like Jamarcus Russell Syndrome. We of the East Bay throwball team know that all too well, and you don't want any of that.
Last time I saw him, assistant coach Ian Russell was yelling at him during a scrimmage against a college team saying these guys are all your age and are amateurs and they are blowing right past you. Two days later he was gone. That was in 2011 and haven't heard or read anything about him since then....
I already looked in Google and it says nothing about him. I wouldn't have asked if I found something on him.....
