so great to see him back. We all missed seeing him play. He's a bit nervous still but it's normal, it's gonna take some playing time for him to gain more confidence in himself and he'll be 100% back to normal. He did great for a first game back though. #25 is back
Alex Ferguson praises return of “fabulous” Antonio Valencia http://sportingalert.com/2011/03/alex-ferguson-praises-return-of-fabulous-antonio-valencia/
Great 20 minutes Valencia! Valencia wow! great dribbling and nice pass to Gigs who passed to Chicharito for the 2nd goal.
Valencia playing beautifully. He still need to go more in the middle when he has a chance. Other than that he is AWESOME! What a great pass by him.
He's playing very smart. The past 2 games he has come in during a 1-0 lead, so no need to take risks. More important to play the safe pass and break quickly when the opportunity arises. Which he does to perfection. I know it's hard to resist the comparison to Nani, but they are so different. Nani can do things Valencia can't, but Valencia is a guy you can give the ball to and you know he won't do anything stupid.
I thought he played well , I'm still a bit nervous watching him play ! I was pissed when that asshole challenged him to the floor... and he played the ball very well for the second goal
Did you see that ahole Taiwo intentionally go for Valencia's ankle? atleast that's how it seemed to me, Valencia already crossed the ball lonh before the tackle. I think he may have re-injured his ankle a bit hopefully not but he looked like he was in pain for a while there. Anyways he did really well again for only his 2nd game in over 6 months I mean considering the circumstances you can't really ask for more, that 2nd goal was all him and that ultimately made the difference... happy for him Fergie should work him back slowly though.
Taiwo is a piece of shit, he'll get his ! He did that shit on purpose, Antonio been got rid of the ball ... and they should keep Valencia as a sub for a while !
Yeah I saw that too. Once he made the pass Valencia was on the ground. I was like WTF happen? The guy was like a mile away when he got the ball off. POS dude better not have hurt Valencia. I was hella mad when I saw that. Just dirty!
A couple of smart passes.and one good cross. Other than that, he's really not back to his old self. If the boss isn't happy, he might put nani on the right and bring on park.
Yeah he didn't play that great. Still rusty but his teammates didn't play great either. I can't believe they put him on the left side because Nani wasn't doing anything on the left. Valencia played better on the left and Nani on the right lol.
Like luigi said no one played great today , so its not like valencia was the only one that didn't play well ! NANI wasn't doing anything on the left that's why SAF switched them ! And like I said before Valencia should come off the bench after the first 45 , and I believe he'll have more of a impact ... at least for now , I think there rushing him a bit'
I'm happy he's back and was able to play the full 90. But he's sooooooo damn careful. Would be nice to see him run at someone, or rip a shot or two. I'll be patient.
Valencia is doing fine he's better than before if you ask me this injury has made him develop his intelligence now he is smarter if you notice since he been back Man u has been winning.
He is definitely still getting back into the swing of things. He plays very smart and conservative. His crosses were off though and his passes are not as precise as they usually are. However, his speed is there which was my biggest concern. Give him some time. And like Manolo said we need to be patient. It is great seeing him on the pitch though!!
I know this by watching him play and reading an interview he did for ecuavisa. He seemed very grounded and realistic, talked about how his confidence in his left leg is not all there yet, he also talked about a plate he has screwed onto his ankle. Clearly there is still issues with his ankle but he seems to be be mentally adept to handle them, the average person would probably not be able to. He's not at the level he once was in terms of athleticism but he is already made a key impact especially in the win in CL. I was expecting Fergie to bring him along slowly but clearly he feels AV25 is a key player and can make a difference even when he is not all there mentally and physically.
To be fair, he has always been like this - it is one of his stand out qualities. You might have simply not noticed it before.
Yes, he has always been like that but it's a safe assumption to think that Valencia has matured mentally after going through that big injury. The whole process must have required a lot from him, not just physically but also mentally. His frame of mind must be different now. That must be the reason we see so much caution from him now. He'll just need to balance it a bit in his game. Up until now, I think he's been great and I can't ask for more after such a long time away.
No you don't ... but from what he's saying I take it he meant Valencia matured mentally by saying the injury developped his intelligence and not that Valencia's IQ raised or whatever by becoming injured... so I see the point he's making. He didn't express it correctly I agree, if that's what you're trying to point out.
