And looks like Caicedo is staying in Levante. I like the move, he's doing well and he seems happy there. Now lets just hope he and Montero can save them from relegation.
that's big news.... Also, apparently a lot of clubs are starting to scout out Caicedo over at Levante.
Christian Andres Ona will be going be leaving for Italy next Monday to get a for a physical check up. It looks like it could be a done deal. http://marcador.ec/notas/2011/02/15/tricolor-sub-20-andres-ona-confirmo-que-esta-cerca-de-fichar-con-el-inter-de-milan
Montero was presented officially as a new Levante player. http://marcador.ec/notas/2011/02/01/ecuatoriano-jefferson-montero-presentado-como-nuevo-jugador-del-levante
Sneijder has been one of the best players I've seen in the last few years. Just imagine Oña learning from him.....
I get skeptical when I see these big teams buying 18 year old players for cheap. You know he'll never play any meaningful matches for a LONG time. He'll play on their reserves and most likely he'll be farmed out to some lower division team. I suppose it's a step up from Ecuador's second division, but I don't expect to see him in the Champions League anytime soon. Remember Fernando Guerrero was on Real Madrid and Deison Mendez also went to Inter, so this type of thing is not exactly new.
R. Aragon was also scouted at one of the Sub 20 Sudamericanos I believe by Inter, I'm not sure. Best of luck to Ona I hope he makes it there though.
No, Aragon was 24 when Inter wanted to scout him, he was being scouted in the winter 2006 time period on the turn of january 2007, so about four years ago. Araon played for the u-17 team in 1995 though ...
I just hope Ona doesn't get lost if he goes to Inter. It's a gamble. Right now Deison Mendez is probably 21 and still hasn't started for any club team in Ecuador. Not even ESPOLI. So it makes me wonder if going to Inter was even good for him. Ona is too good of a player to loose. I'd prefer he choose a mid table club team where he'll eventually play and then make the big move some day to a team like Inter. And staying in Independiente until the summer is not a bad idea either. For sure he'll be a starter there. Plus it gives him a possibility to be looked at by Rueda who is tryin to find who to pair up with Noboa. Not saying Ona could immediately win a starting position in the NT but it will give Rueda an idea of what we have in store for a near future. he'd make an awesome pair with Noboa. So we can add that to the competition that Castillo , Saritama, and Quiroz are having.
I think lots of the u20 kids should get their chance in the next few friendlies. Especially Narvaez, Montano, Ibarra, Marcos Caicedo, and Ona who are the best guys we had. whoever impresses stays whoever doesn't will get a chance again when the times right and they're ready
Villareal has made an official offer to El Nacional for Renato Ibarra http://www.futbolecuador.com/stories/publica/19271
I guess the good news is that Villarreal is willing to pay extra to buy him 100%, instead of splitting his rights and letting El Nacional have a piece of a future transfer fee. That shows more of an investment in the player. So they'll try to put him in the shop window as much as possible, hopefully with some time on the first team, or loaning him out to get minutes. If you are thinking he'll be on the first 11, I have some land I want to sell you...
Mario Pineida has offers to some Brazil club http://teradeportes.com/newsv2.php?id_noticia=37873 I'm wondering why we havent heard of anything about John Narvaez. I bet he has offers but is keeping quiet for now.
I was surprised that we didn't hear anything about Pineida up until now...he was solid in the tournament, he didn't stand out like Ona, Ibarra, or Jaramillo but he was solid throughout. The same goes for Quinones. Narvaez stood out because of his combo of speed, strength, and size but Quinonez organized the backline pretty good IMO. I read somewhere a couple days ago that some Belgium team were sniffing around the player, nothing serious tho. I think it was Genk.
The one player I'm surprised we haven't heard anything from is John Jaramillo. Arguably the most important player we had during the tournament. How many times did he save the net?!
Unfortunately, keepers are one position that European leagues have plenty supply of. They look to Latin America for wingers, playmakers and forwards, but for whatever reasons there's just not a big need for keepers in the transfer market.
