LA and I think DC have done visual support in regards to Vader already. L.A. fits due to the galactic reference. We'll see.

This lil LTA newsflash is what's up though.

No one has a voice low or depressing enough, let alone a whole bunch of us. Ian Curtis crossed with Barry White on downers is tough to replicate.

I don't really think the number of chants that we collectively have on the boards is the problem.

What is the problem is that about 5% of the Nordecke is on big soccer or will read this thread, and even that number is optimistic. We have tens if not hundreds of decent to good chants that aren't sung because no one knows about them. There is much theory of new chants being thrown around and not much implementation. Especially with the more wordy and complicated chants, there is no way for people to understand them from Drew and a just few others drunkenly slurring them. It just won't work.

Two ideas that would help spread the chants more: (I have a few more, but I'm a pretty lazy writer)

    1) Pass out chant lists again, especially with the new ones. I know this has been done numerous times with the CU chant lists in the past, but it is something that is worth repeating and updating. People cannot follow along if they don't know what along is. Thats fairly obvious. I am definitely down to making/print up some updated chant lists. Being a grad student, I can print out basically unlimited amounts of fliers that we could hand out and am willing to take the time to put a list together. Let me know if this is something anyone else would be interested in (especially helping formulate a list for it).

    2) Might help if a few key people go stand in higher parts of the section for a little bit and help echo the chants to the higher parts of the section. I realize this is more of a burden because it takes away from the game, but if your mission is to spread the massive, then this might be a good way. I know this has worked to some degree in the past with some CU going to the less filled parts of the nordecke. This touches on another topic: not all people are going to chant, even if they know the words. Call them free riders on the atmosphere or the ticket prices, but some just won't do it. But that does not mean that this is a monolithic group that is the total of people not chanting.

Although I said that this is about implementation, I realize I am speaking a little too pie-in-the-sky about the matter, too. Maybe that is because I just want to watch some d*mn soccer. Maybe it is that it is my first season living in Columbus. Whatever it is, the takeaway should at least be that there should be a much greater implementation aspect to this thread. Discuss?

I'm certainly not a key person, but my wife and I used to stand in the mid-to-high area of the section (better view of the game) and sing ourselves hoarse. Maybe there needed to be more of us, but I don't remember anyone around us catching on and singing more than half-heartedly.

Usually to hit the bullseye and really get the herd mentality to kick in, you need about 5 or more people to really get the dominoes falling like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Really there are two main problems in our group the way I see it.

    1) The "I'm too cool" factor that our group "thinks" they have.

    2) Most people aren't awear of bigsoccer, therefore they show up on gameday not knowing that these chant creations exist. (I think most are good personally, especially more personal ones such as the Black Keys)

I am someone who tries my best to bring new people along each game to give the Nordecke a try. These types of people aren't going to come into it prepared, but "some" do enjoy joining in if the songs are easy enough to learn after a few times hearing them (I'm not so much concerned about these people). As for us that are in the corner most games, we all need to just learn to shut up and chant, if you don't like one song it's not the end of the world. There is PLENTY of room for everyone's style, it's a give and take. If you're stagnate you're dead....last year we were on life support.

    Just an opinion

I know we have an Andy Iro song but how about a song to share his Liverpool roots:

Tune: Ob la di Ob la da -The Beatles

    Ob-la-di Ob-la-da Andy Iiiiirooo!
    From Liverpool to Ohio
    Ob-la-di Ob-la-da Andy Iiiiirooo!
You tried to score but he said no

An anthem of sorts that EVERYONE should know the lyrics to. We are only changing one word throughout besides the end:

Tune: We are the Champions- Queen

    We are Columbus, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting til the end
    We are Columbus
    We are Columbus
    No time for losers
    Cause we are Columbus
    Til the end!

In case you really need it

    WIN WIN WIN!!

I can visually see that, scarves are up, swaying side to side, as the team comes over the the Nordecke. Good tradition to start.

Maybe SGs can put this out on their FB pages?

This is actually probably a good idea to promote new songs in general. Many more people are friends of the SGs on FB than are in BigSoccer.

Some player songs together (for the guys playing tomorrow)

(actual quote from Bobby "We have to figure out who is going to play the piano and who is going to carry the piano." And going back to Shaggy saying he likes playing the piano...)
    Eddie Gaven- Tune:piano Man
Score us a goal, Eddie Gaven man (Ga-a-ven?)
    Score us a goal, tonight
Cause we're all in the mood for a Victory
And you've got us feeling alright
    la di da, diddy da.......

Dilly Duka (for those of you lucky enough to have attended his USOC games last year)-
    Dilly Duka fist pump!
    Dilly Duka fist pump!
    Dadadada
    Dadadada

    Robbie Rogers-
    You are my Rogers,
    My Robbie Rogers
    You make me happy
    When skies are gray
    And when it's pouring
    You just keep scoring
Please don't take my Rogers away

    SuperManu-
    Hes fast, hes quick
    His names a porno flick
    Emmanuel, Emmanuel

Andy Iro (several out there for him, but none really "his" yet)
    Hes big, hes British
    Hes probably good at Quidditch
    Andy Iro, Andy Iro

Jeff Cunningham- Tune- On the Road Again
    Black and Gold again
Fear Jeff Cunningham, Black and Gold again
And he's scored more goals than any other man
That's why I'm glad he's in black and gold again

And then we have something to put between....
    We Love Ya
    Columbus Till I Die
    Yo Si Le Voy
    We Are MASSIVE
When the Crew Go Marching In (would be cool if we put a slow part before the fast...)
    We'll Be Coming
Wise Men Say? (don't hear that one enough, and since "Yellow" is too "gay"...)
    Hey Crew
Come On Columbus Crew (Come on(x5) Columbus Crew, Columbus Crew, Columbus Crew. Winning would be easy if your colors were like our teams. Black and Gold. Black and Goldddd)
We all Cheer for a Yellow Soccer Team
    Columbus is the Greatest Team

    Cleaned this up a bit...

TO THE TUNE OF SUBLIME'S "SANTERIA"
    "His name is Renteria,
And he can shoot the ball
Not for a million dollars would I...
    Stand in the wall

If keeper knows what's good for him he best go run & hide
    Venado's got a new .45
And he won't think twice to stick that barrel straight down keeper's throat
Believe us when we say that he's got something for his PUNK ASS"

...and the Columbus Crew Soldier one is on page one. Shaun's out, but I'm sure he'll be at the game. Might appreciate it during warmups.
