Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread We've seen quite a bit of that as well (Bradley to Villa). But a lot of the speculation stems from the fact that its an easy connection to make since Randy Lerner is American. Plus, it'd be a controversial (very controversial) choice given Villa's recent table position and drive to qualify for European competitions every season.....that drives page hits and readership. I've also read speculation that a lot of those rumored connections between Bob and Fulham and then Villa is being driven by betting houses over there. I don't believe the gambling thing has been touched on much in this thread, but the ease of the Lerner-Bradley connection as American compatriots has been put to good use lately.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread I'm not a BB hater, but I really do not think he is thought that highly of in Europe. I would be surprised if he gets the Villa job. Course, then he could bring Mikey along with him (kidding!)
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Yeah, I'd agree with that. I've said numerous times that I respect the job Bob Bradley did here in the U.S but I simply cannot see him coaching in the Premiership. At the same time though, there have been some serious turds to coach Premiership sides in the past so who the hell knows but I think he'd be a better fit at a lower to mid table Bundesliga team, kinda like Borussia-Mon.(just an example).
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread I think he's likely well respected in coaching circles and maybe even by many of the players. Unfortunately for Bob, none of them are decision makers. Boards at big clubs just aren't going to allow him to run a club. There's no obvious upside to him over other, "proven", managers. The downside is all too easy to imagine, especially at a club that's always in the running for a spot in European competitions.....like Villa.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Steve Coppell has quit at Bristol City after just 4 months in charge. I think maybe he could be lined up for Villa and the Bradley rumors will be just that. I can't see many Premiership clubs taking a chance but who knows.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread That would simply blow me away to see Bradley go to Villa. It's cool that people in England think enough of him to link him to such a job but meh, he'd be in a little over his head, me thinks. And I'd hate to see an American coach sink a respectable team and we'd have to hear more bitching and moaning from the English over how we're trying to destroy "their" game.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread i believe i read on sky sports news that avfc would make some sort of announcement wednesday. if they really had bob in mind, i think they would have followed up. i think it might be a better idea for bob to start managing in the colaship before making a jump to epl. this way he could get a better handle on the style through first hand experience. he could get to know more about the players/competition than watching it.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Didn't Ives also post about Mkey being so good in this WC, clubs like Arsenal would be interested in him?
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread We over value the premiership just like we over valued the English team.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread He is, but I don't hold that too much against him. Every manager will have his institutional supporters, and critics [think of Beau Dure & RoboBob]. That said, there is a difference between being a PR person and an institutional supporter....... ... It sure will be interesting to see how much forbearance Ives would grant, say Klinsmann, in comparison to his full sympathy for the trials and tribulations of the Bradley clan..
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread A few stories popping up in the last 30 minutes or so about Bradley "officially" quitting from the US job and, presumably, about to be anounced as Villa's man. No idea about the reliability of such reports, but google "Bob Bradley" and judge for yourself.
Rumor - Bradley Resigns, Joins Aston Villa (False rumor. Denied by Bradley and USSF) BBCTalkSport (and BigSoccer's front page ) are reporting Bradley's resignation from the United States national team, paired with a move to Aston Villa. Apparently bookies have stopped taking bets on the future Aston Villa manager. We'll see how this pans out.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread I'm no bob basher but it still amazes me to see stuff like this (albeit in the gossip section): http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/default.stm "1045 BST: Bob Bradley has quit his job with the United States national team and is set to be named the new manager of Aston Villa."
Re: Bradley Resigns, Joins Aston Villa and cut and pasted to the BBC Sport football gossip page: 1045 BST: Bob Bradley has quit his job with the United States national team and is set to be named the new manager of Aston Villa. believe it when i see it but good luck to Bob p.s. that thread title is way too sensational ... really should have added the "rumor:" but whatever
Re: Bradley Resigns, Joins Aston Villa Bet365 haven't removed the wager from their offerings. So they, at least, don't regard it as a done deal. Given that they stand to lose money if the outcome is clear, I tend to think their is still a degree of uncertainty. That or they feel enough people will be in denial at the prospect of an American getting the job that they will still get wagers on the other candidates. All that said, Bradley is now their overwhelming favorite. Bob Bradley 4/7 Sven Goran Eriksson 4/1 Kevin MacDonald 5/1 Martin Jol 16/1 Gareth Southgate 25/1
Re: Bradley Resigns, Joins Aston Villa If it is true, Good Luck Bob. Yes I doubted you, but you were a part of an amazing period for US soccer. Thanks for the memories.
Re: Bradley Resigns, Joins Aston Villa ESPN soccernet has it now, albeit as a two line report that someone else is reporting it: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=814052&sec=global&cc=5901
Re: Bradley Resigns, Joins Aston Villa I've been poking around some Villa forums, and most are declaring this a likely disaster. It is really hard to take off my American-glasses, but from there point of view: here's a guy whose club experience consists of solely Major League Soccer. I honestly hope he does well.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread i'm not in the official bob bradly needs to die in a fire club, but i've have at times been critical of many of his choices. regardless of any of that, i have nothing but hopes of success for him if he does go to coach overseas. he can be a pioneer blazing a path for future american coaches, opening one of the last doors left closed to US soccer professionals.
Re: Bradley Resigns, Joins Aston Villa The part that the villa fans will need to realize is that their best players have gone to Man City over the past two seasons and haven't been replaced, so yes, they should feel impending doom. Good luck Bob, you will likely need it (and a little cash from Lerner).
