Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread We need Klinsi to teach our strikers how to actually be good strikers. Don't see Bob doing that.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Then make him the Technical Director. Have Klinsi work with the U17's on how to become good strikers. It is a bit late when they are at the senior level.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Ives also talked about how at the end of last year Robbie Rogers was going to leave the Crew because he was out of contract, He was not out of contract because he is still playing with the Crew.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Yes, well, that is the way of Ives. I'm in contact with him so I'll try to see what's going on but I doubt he gives me a straight answer about this denunciation.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread I honestly think it's pretty weak for Ives to mischaracterize what WSR reported and not correct the record when they called him on it.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread btw~ During the pregame last night, they showed Bradley, and I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Welp, looks like he thinks this might be is his last game... Look at his eyes."
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Galarcep is such a terrible journalist my default reaction to all of his reporting is to believe the exact opposite.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread i have no ussf sources or contacts whatsoever. but i suspect that at times like this it's not terribly hard to find a 'source' who will tell you something. he/she even may be a 'good source.' but most likely, the source is handing out no more than an educated guess. certainly, the source doesn't get the story from the horse's mouth. so, imo it's premature to 'announce' any news. and whatever coach bradley said to the players, pbl could be interpreted as a farewell... or not. i suspect it was of the boilerplate variety, given the situation. personally, my guess is that coach bradley would like to stay at the nt and is waiting it out to see if in the end he gets to keep the job, even if only by default. the list of replacements isn't that strong, if klinsmann doesn't bite. i mean, i'd love to see the departure of the present coach, but i can't see a sure-fire solution in his place. btw, in the most unlikely case that coach bradley should find himself coaching honduras, i don't see any problem. once free, he can coach where he wants, just like brazilian or italian coaches. this isn't war or treason, for pete's sake. it's just ballgames.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Whoever is right, regardless, this has probably done one thing and that is sped up the process. Whether it be resigning him or moving on. Either way, USSF is looking a little bit dumb now that its out. If Bob is going to Villa or DC United, USSF doesn't want to be seen like they were in late '06 as a rudderless ship, especially if they are going to play 3 more friendlies this fall. At least Mexico announced their intentions to have to different assistants run the team for friendlies sounded like a plan while they decide on a coach. USSF will look dumb with Jessie Marsch running the national team vs Poland and Colombia.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Ives is getting roasted and I, for one, am loving it. Hope the sensationalist eats crow on this story as well.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Why? Ives is good, he's just a journalist who aggregates US soccer news better than anyone else. He's not a dick, people make mistakes, and I don't understand the bloodlust for him around here. If you want perfect accounts of everything that's going on in American soccer, then look around the god damn internet on your own instead of relying on journalists you say you hate.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread your girlfriend is named Welp? That in itself is unusual.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Don't see how that's a National Team manager's responsibility.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Wrong. It's not his primary responsibility, but he should still instruct the players on how to get better. Yes, the club coach should do it more, as he has the player for longer, but the national team coach should do it also. Hey, player X, you need to work on A,B, and C to make it to the next level, and here's how to improve those areas. Also, for the USA, with the way the national team set up dominates the youth system, a USMNT coach, or the USSF system, definitely has a role in teaching skills from the ground up.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Maybe not, but his characterization of WSR here seemed like a pretty dick move to me: WSR in the past few weeks has broken the following stories: Kljestan to Anderlecht, Ljungberg to Chicago, Fernandez to Seattle, Adu and LA in talks (we'll see how that one works out), etc. "Crap reports" might simply be referring to this particular story, but that still seems awfully dismissive considering that by my count they've probably landed more scoops in just the past several weeks than Ives has since he's begun reporting.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread I haven't gone back enough pages to see what everyone here is talking about but I came to see what people were talking about. Rumors are circulating in he West Midlands, England that Bradley has quit and is lined up for the Villa job. It's not coming from US soccer media either.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread You want semantics? "Bob's position with the USSF is yet to be finalized". So, if he is named as a U-20/U-17/Technical Director/Scouting Consultant in January, there's your built-in "plausible denial".
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread You seem to be a little over-protective of Ives. Why is that?
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Can someone please tell me based on what prior experience the expectations of Klinsmann if he becomes coach becoming this "U.S. National Soccer Team Messiah" is based on?
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread I've just been a reader of his since he was with the Bergen County Record and I find his site to be a great catch-all for major US and international soccer stories. He generally keeps his opinion rare and understated, which I greatly prefer to some bomb-throwing blog looking for controversy (or, more accurately, page views) where none exists. If you don't like him, fine. Like I said in my earlier post, if you're on such a need-to-know basis on stories that haven't even happened yet, investigate it yourself instead of pissing and moaning on here.
Re: The Official Future of Bob Bradley Thread Ives hasn't been relevant in ages. He NEVER posts anything critical of the USSF because he wants to preserve his so-called "access." The fact that soccer journalists haven't been on top of this issue (i.e., Bradley's status as head coach) shows me that 99% of them care more about sucking up to the USSF than breaking actual stories of interest.
