Now I asked nicely to start this new thread in the other thread and had a way better title. Hence forth I will be boycotting this thread. Peace.
Oh no, its cool. I'm sure this will fill up with nonsensical posts fast enough and I'll get my chance. Enjoy the limelight.
If anyone hasn't seen the front page of Soccernet in the past few minutes, the caption underneath Cesc's picture is shit-tastic.
I don't understand why we already have a new Cesc thread to be perfectly honest, i like the new title though. Anyway this latest news is very interesting, Hleb who 2 seasons ago wanted Cesc to come to Barcelona now says he should stay at the Emirates. "I stay in touch with Cesc a lot and it's hard for me to judge what he should do" "He and Gael Clichy are both very good players who must make their own decisions about their future. But I would advise them to stay." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=790027&sec=transfers&cc=5739
I refuse to believe any of this nonsense until either AW or CF4 come out and speak for themselves. It helps me sleep better!
Utd play with a deep lying playmaker (Carrick) as well as Scholes as there retainer and midfield general Sniejder is a classic 10. He just doesn't play to retain the ball like a deeper player such as Xavi IMO one of Arsenal's key issues is the lack of this midfield organiser And I agree with other posters than the job of hurting teams in the final 3rd would go to AA But Cesc is possibly the best AM in the business right now along with Sniejder
Diaby/Song don't do the job that Cambiasso/Motta do. If they did we would be having a different conversation imvho. I actually rate Cesc higher than Sneijder and I'm Dutch, and an Ajax fanatic.
I think you need more a flamini than a cambiasso because Arsenal need possession for the system to work
Carrick isn't a playmaker, he is a possession retainer And Scholes has been poor What I meant is that we shouldn't have a #10 type or be dependent on one I don't regard Sneijder as a #10-type but it's probably just me And to go back to bigman, I don't think Lampard is that type of player either... And I think Malouda was as influential
Zlatan, Yaya and $15mil for Cesc - Go buy, with that cash and the sale of Almunia, Vertonghen and Akinfeev. (and yes I know thats alot for one player but we all know his importance to Arsenal, his talent and so on, so Barca can pay to play or shut it) Akinfeev Clichy - Verm - Vert - Sagna Walcott - Yaya - Nasri - Arshi, Zlat - RvP
Ibrahimovic? meh. i prefer Chamakh. I'd much rather get Krkic or someone else. And I think that would be too many changes to the side, ruin the chemistry, adding Yaya and Nasri and changing the formation. Plus Yaya said he didn't want to come. I am still hoping for Kjaer's signing today/tommorow (10 million release clause expires), he wants to leave to the premier league and is very cheap for his calibre, and young. If we don't get him then Verthongen is the best option. And if Barca pay what they have to pay then we need Gourcuff, if we can't get him then we should just stick with Ramsey and let Wilshere stay rather than going on loan. And if we sell Clichy I think Gibbs is good enough to step up. Afinkeev I like, but I will warn you, he has his Almuina-esque gaffes too, but not as often. Maybe Frey would be better, but Afinkeev is young, has more future, though we do have Sceznezy for the future too. [LINEUP-4-3-3]Van Persie, Chamakh, Arshavin, Nasri, Gourcuff, Song, Clichy, Vermaelen, Kjaer, Sagna, Afinkeev[/LINEUP-4-3-3]
I'm sorry but Cesc is on another level when compared to Sniejder. In their 3-1 destruction of Barcelona, Sniejder completed like 10 passes which was the lowest figure of any player that played the entire 90 minutes, on either team. Just because Inter won the CL doesn't mean everyone should over-estimate their players, especially sniejder. His best "pass" of the night was a disaster of a header which found Milito in a non-called offsides position for the goal.
So I've been thinking...if we keep Cesc, I just can't see Wenger buying any more central midfielders (defensive particularly) because I think hes invested too much time in both Denilson and Diaby to just suddenly kick one of them to the curb (Song and Cesc being the automatic starters in that midfield trio). I do think, however, regardless if whether or not Cesc leaves, we're certain to buy a new CB and a new GK. Who they are, I have no idea...but this Kjaer guy sounds nice. Hopefully CL football and Bendtner will be enough to persuade him to come our way (assuming Wenger is even interested).
"Cesc is now focused on the Spanish national team, but he wants the signing to be closed as soon as possible. "I don't know how this is going to end up, but I think that we need to respect the decision and the will of the player." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_6171412,00.html Cesc is the man, but his Pop's has the wrong idea. Since Cesc is Arsenal's prized asset, the club doesn't really need to respect anything other than the almighty $ at this point. Slap a nice price tag on him and let Barca pay...if not, I'm pretty sure Real Madrid might be interested.
