Check out the link below http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_old_game/3416049.stm In all seriousness though there must be a huge pool of untaped talent for English speaking islands in the lower/non leagues of England. Does anyone else know of any other players (obviously of a higher level then this guy) who have been called up for the forthcoming CONCACAF WC matches ?
Sorry the link doesn`t appear to work. If you go to the BBC Sport homepage and type in 'turks football' in the search facility at the top of the page, the story should be the first in your results. To paraphrase it, a 30 year old English Sunday League player has been called into the Turks+Caicos islands squad for the match against Haiti. He had lived on the Islands for 2 years and qualifies through this. For those who don't know Sunday league football in England is really low, I don`t even think they make the first round of the FA Cup qualifiers
I believe the FA sent out a 'request' for any football players with Turks and Caicos heritage. Looks like they found at least one player.
Turks & Caicos played a friendly a few days ago against the Caribbean All-Stars FC. In other TC news, both games against Haiti will be played in southern Florida.
My little rating system predicts that Haiti will win this series 19-0 on aggregate. T&C are ranked 203rd out of the 209 teams ranked in the system (ahead of Mongolia, Afghanistan, Tonga, Montserrat, American Samoa and the mighty Guam). My guess is that Glinton will be, by far, their best player. Haiti is ranked 111th.
Haiti is ranked at 111 ! No way thats higher than Northern Ireland! how many players in the English Premiership do they have?! Any chance that we can play the Turks and Caicos in a friendly? we might be able to break our scoring drought!
I am pretty sure the answer would be that they have no players in the EPL. There are probably a few Haitian players in France now that I think about it. I think one player Wagneou Eloi was in France at some point this year.
T & C / Haiti WCQ Matches in Miami Area For those of you wondering, both legs of the tie will be played in the United States, in South Florida, as reported above by Canadian_Supporter. On 18 February, they will play in the Orange Bowl in Miami, while the second leg will be at Ted Hendricks Stadium in Hialeah, Florida, on February 21. The reasons are not posted, but I suspect the major reason is the social riots in Haiti these days. Another reason is to cut down travel costs, and to make ticket money from the large Haitian population in South Florida.
