Barry, too. Ferdinand is not a player of much importance IMO, other than his experience. He was recently benched by Sir Alex at Manchester Utd in favor of Wes Brown, who got abused today, and Johnny Evans.

Barry was there and IMO did a decent job for ENgland, but for them IMO the guy that showed up was James Milner. Ferdinand's been struggling with injuries all season; I think that's one of the reason he's hardly looked like himself, besides getting up there in age. Wes Brown though was horrible for them. He's just not good enough. The other real player missing for England was Theo Walcott, Joe Cole and maybe they would've done better to play Agbonlahor. But missing Walcott is a problem for them same with Cole. But they are injury prone so...

Milan midfielder Gattusso said in an interview that KAKA is not the same player in Madrid 'cause Madrid do not give much importance to player fitness or physical training....In Milan KAKA was made to run a lot and the physical training was very tough...

In Madrid the players are made to do only skill training it seems....Someone in RM forum was mentioning that Old galaticos never used to train....No wonder Ronaldo came out so fat from Madrid!!!
Hope Kaka doesn't end up slow and fat....
It might be true..'cause most of the games Kaka seems to run out of gas by 60th minute or so...
    ..:(:(

Okay, I have seen the game. I thought the more time passed, the better Brazil team worked.

Nilmar run over Wes Brown, how many times ? Brown is awful, and Nilmar should scored here in some of those scene, but nonetheless his goal was classic.

This was England's reserve, so it is hard to judge on a serious note. ;)

In an own note: super proud of Carlos Eduardo ! This is amazing, that he made it so far, I hope he is going to be a part of that team.

I would not call Fabiano, Maicon Melo had an excellent game. They did ok - Fabiano would be rateed very good if he could burry the simple penalty - a friendly game ... c'mon. Maicon did alright nothing special, and same for Kaka.

Overall, Brazil looked good thanks to a so-so performance by England whatever they call reseverd or so ...

Bottom line ... just a FRIENDLY game. (Italy always looked bad in friendly but totally different in real competition)

Well done, you fully deserved to win.. to be frank we were pretty average and did almost nothing, but we did well to lose only 1-0 considering we had a B Team. I wish we could play again with a full squad, then we could be competetive, today was just a training exercise for Brazil, passing around our anonymous midfield at will.

Now, if we had our full squad.. it would be a good match.. it would have looked more like this

    -----------Green
    Johnson---Terry--Ferdinand---A.Cole
    ---------Barry--Lampard
    Lennon----Rooney-----Gerrard
    ---------Heskey

Subs: J cole, Walcott, Hargreaves, Carrick, Milner, Defoe

but oh well, at least we learnt that we are screwed next year if we suffer from this many injuries. Milner played well, so did Barry and Rooney.

Hopefully we will meet next year with NO injuries, preferably in the final :)

Is Kaka still fast or has he lost pace?

I remember a few years ago he used to run past players very easily and was quick but in yesterday's game he looked a bit slow and couldn't get away from the defenders.

Gattuso has just stated that a not fit Kaka is keeping him limited.

I would agree, I think he could even lost 3 kilo.

Not enough time to really judge him. Also, the game was pretty dead at that point and we were not attacking. Hopefully, he starts the next game or gets a good 35 minutes to show what he can do.

Yet another assist for Elano. He can surely dish them up.

I haven't watched the game yet so I can't comment on it.

Damnit, we need to beat France! I hope we face them. I have not seen us win against them in my lifetime. 3 different WC's. I am tired of the proverbial "monkey on our backs" talk. All the talk of Spain, England and the French (who are starting to play better) aren't talked about as favourites.....just like going into '06. Could not beat them in C.Cup years ago, or the FIFA 100 year birthday friendly. I'll even take a friendly win against them as something to boast of. Really gets under my skin that we haven't figured them out.

why aren't you guys taking issue with the fact that the game was played in doha? what is your federation's justification for this?

are they taking heat for this in the brasilian media?

All the Brazilian friendlies are played in wherever they pay the most - money dictates the contracts!

Hot weather is not a factor.

It is like Old Carioca said. They go where the money is. In the Middle east, it is all about money, and it is even more of an exhibition IMO... like a high-priced showcase.

Since 2006, they've had a few friendlies in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The first, vs. Mexico, I believe was setup by the Mexican Federation. However maybe some research wasn't done, because (I was at that match as well...) in the Northeast, there are probably well over a few million Brazilians/ex-patriots, especially in Massachusetts. It was kind of funny... churrasco tailgating. Though to be honest, I did catch a lot of Americans there that just so happened to be wearing gold and green. ;) They followed this up with another friendly at the same time the next year (I think 2008) vs. Venezuela, but Venezuela won in convincing fashion. I wasn't at that one. ;)

Nilmar has scored something like 6 goals in the last 6 matches he's played for Brasil.

i know, but why isn't there more of a protest from the fans and the media?

i understand playing in europe on friendly dates when there are only a couple of days for players to be together, it would make no sense to play those games in brazil.

but this was a full international date, with a whole week before the game. it could have easily been played in brasil.

maybe england, germany or italy could also make more money by playing their home friendlies in qutar, but they could never get away with it with their public.

The other question is - why did England agree to play this? LOL...

Are you guys saying that somehow Brazil is to be blamed for agreeing to play this game???? I don't understand...

this game was agreed as a part of the deal that brought brazil to wembley for the opening of the new stadium.

this was the return leg, so to say. it was brazil's decision to play it in qatar.
