    Agreed about Wolyniec.

My only, probably silly, point is Arena can effect more change from being up close and personal than from a distance, and still believes Clint can comeback as strong as ever (as do I by the way).

OK, Clint may not be AWOL from the USMNT camp, but where the heck is he?

There has simply been no word on who may or may not be giving him a look, since Rangers decided not to offer him a contract.

According to Bergin, in LA. Doing what, I dont know. Going to the beach. Hitting on sunbathers. Who knows. We'll all know in January I suspect.

Wolyniec being invited into camp is some kind of story, but "great" or "rags to riches" it's not.

Call up to a National Team training camp and competing for a spot on the national team= riches.

you are the weakest link. goodbye.

Yes it is in the USMNT's best intrest, but i doubt it it's in any European club's best intrest to have him as a player.

I know this probably isn't the place to debate this but since it's where I found out I'm going to comment -

John Wolyinec training with the national team is a joke!!!! I don't care if you think it's a rags to riches story or not. This guy couldn't even start for his own club and now he gets called into camp. I realize that this is an experimental camp with a bunch of boarderline players but this takes the cake.

On a side not - he did get ripped off by not getting goal of the year.

Remember, the last-minute Mathis replacement had to be:

    Over 23
    Not busy (an MLS player)
Willing to come to the camp on very short notice
    A forward.

That's not a very long list. Wolyniec's probably just about as good as the other people who fit those criteria; plus, he has the kind of work ethic Bruce likes to have in camp. Let's not read too much into this.

Reading chair John Mad talked today about the team's desparate need for another striker.
Now, I happen to think that D. 1 would be a nice fit for Mathis, help a team in a promotion push, put himself in a shop window, at least one that people walk by a fairly regular basis. Also, give us two yanks at reading.

If nothing else, Clint should try to get a workout with them (Reading)...not a bad "fall back" option if nothing else comes thru..

You are taking things to literally. But as long as your being technical, being called up to the USMNT training camp does not earn you "riches". So, you not only missed my point, which wasn't meant literally, you are also wrong in the literal sense. Perhaps if you stopped watching so many cheap game shows on tv, you would be able to read between the lines.

While I'm happy for John as a person, having seen quite a bit of him (have you, by the way), he is not international material, and I am generally not in favor of giving a player a spot at camp because he's a nice guy who tries hard, which I think is a bit of a weakness on Arena's part.

Reading already has one Yank who sounds like he's sucked on a helium balloon. They don't need two.

Come on. What kind of fun is that?

Certainly a last-minute call-up to a fairly meaningless training camp ought to be worth a six-page "Wolyinec to Liverpool" thread, as well as two opposing threads in the USMNT forum: "Wolyinec is God!!!" and "Wolyinec sucks!!!"

Doen anyone else find it odd that after Mathis week long training with Rangers there has been no news or grumblings about where Mathis may be working out, other clubs etc.?

I will be the first to admit if I am wrong here but I have a hunch that fat boy has already come to terms with a club, possibley still Rangers and will be moving come January. It is like the man fell off the earth all of a sudden.

Then again he could be up sh1t creek right now too.

I think also Clint and his agent realized that it does no good to be "high profile" with your training offers....if those clubs don't make you an offer....you just got "high profile" rejected...better to be Euro-subtle...

On the other hand, I got a PM the other day that told me Clint had Rangers offer in hand, and that he is sitting on it until window....haha

It is strange that we have not heard anything yet. I was suprised when Rangers did not offer him a contract. Clint is a lot better than what they have at the striker position.

Like I said earlier - we're running a Clint joke-free thread. If people want to make Clint jokes, they should seek threads elsewhere.

Funny (but likely not to Clint) but many of these rumors/articles mention Clint was "released" by Metrostars...as if they didn't want to re-sign him..not understanding the whole "we don't pay too much here in US" thing...makes Clint look a little unwanted/loved by Metrostars..

Bruce had an interesting comment on another thread, and made it sound a little like Mathis has contract in hand, but he just can't talk about (yet)...hmmm
