Do they have one for drunken Scouse? Last time the Bunnymen were in town, Ian McCulloch was babbling drunk on stage and everybody was wondering what he was on about.
Shit! Our squad, which has been reported to include 723 players, will now need to be reduced. Home-grown rule introduced If we had to go by these rules for this season, here is what our squad would most likely look like. 1st Team Squad 1. Cavalieri 2. Johnson 4. Aquilani 5. Agger 8. Gerrard 9. Torres 10. Voronin 11. Riera 12. Aurelio 15. Benayoun 18. Kuyt 19. Babel 20. Mascherano 21. Lucas 22. Insua* 23. Carragher 24. Ngog* 25. Reina 26. Spearing* 29. Nemeth* 32. Darby* 34. Kelly* 36. Irwin* 37. Skrtel 39. Eccleston* 40. Ayala* 41. Hansen* 42. Gulacsi* 43. Bouzanis* 44. Martin 46. Amoo* Players left out (over the age of 21) 16. Kyrgiakos 27. Degen 28. Plessis 31. El Zhar 38. Dossena Home-grown players 2. Johnson 8. Gerrard 23. Carragher 26. Spearing 32. Darby 34. Kelly 36. Irwin 39. Eccleston 44. Martin 46. Amoo Note: The rest of the first team squad, without an asterisk next to their name, make up the 17 players that are over the age of 21. *All players are under the age of 21 by the cut-off date of 31 August. Im not quite sure about the exact rules. He says that "As of next season clubs will be required to have a squad named of up to 25 players, of which no more than 17 can be over the age of 21 and not home grown", however im not sure if Carra, Johnson, Gerrard and Martin are included in the 17 allowed players over the age of 21, given that they are all home-grown. If they are excluded from the "17", then Kyrgiakos, Dossena, Degen and El Zhar would all be allowed in the squad.
Grinners, i'm not sure if i undertand correctly but i'm pretty sure you missed this. That means that all our youngsters, under the age of 21 and not homegrown don't count in the 25 man squad.Atleast that's what i undertand of the situation.
All the players that I have listed in the 1st team squad with an asterisk next to their name are under 21. No matter what, it seems that you are only allowed 17 players over the age of 21. I have listed these 17 players in the 1st team squad, they are the ones without an asterisk next to their name.
Gerrard, Carra, Martin and Johnson fill the criteria for home-grown players and so are not in the 17.
Therefore Kyrgiakos, Degen, Dossena and El Zhar/Plessis would still be in the squad. Thats very good...it means that no changes need to be made to our squad for next season due to these new regulations.
I guess CCSC_STRIKER20 is somehow indisposed! Well, till he gets back, here is one of those occurences in Blighty-- an insightful article about Liverpool.
It is an interesting article - but the author makes a few key errors. 1) He falls into the trap that some other journalists have made and attempts to portray Gerrard rather than Masch playing CM against Burnley as an attacking tactical decision. It was not. It was forced by Masch being injured and still in South America when this match occurred. There is little evidence to suggest that Rafa will change away from 4-2-3-1 when Masch is fit. We do not yet know how Aquilani will be incorporated into the side. 2) We have dropped 6 pts so far this season. The author falsely claims that our 3 draws at this time last season means we are at the same position this time around. This is incorrect - at this pt last season we had dropped 4 pts. We had drawn at Villa and against Stoke. The third draw was in the CL Qualifiers at Standard Liege - obviously drawing this match did not cost us league pts. We had also beaten Man U and Everton by this stage last season. We have scored more goals so far this season but attempting to imply that we are in as good a (League) position is misleading.
You can't expect Fleet Street to get everything, right can you? Those are valid observations, however, and certainly of the two loses so far, the one against Villa has to be the hardest to swallow. More pertinent was the general thrust of the article, which was that the 11 drawn matches-- 7 of them at home-- cost us the league. Converting a number of those, while not conceding too much ground elsewhere, will make us more competitive.
interesting new gerrard interview talks a lot about the trial but the interesting bits for me are about Rafa and Capello a bit like Carragher (who compared Rafa to the pub bore in his book) Gerrard says Rafa is a real stickler for detail and says "when does this guy sleep?" and "Has this guy not got a life?" but there seems to be a genuine respect there also says he has never had a conversation with rafa or capello that wasn't about football. seems to be a very big fan of capello - says he enjoys just being in his company. also says things weren't right under previous england managers interview here http://www.footballnewshq.com/2009/09/2009-09-pl-story-58564574.html ---

anyone seen this? http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/eseason/News-and-Interviews/09-10/FREE-Istanbul--14096.php3
Or he could start doing Ikea furniture like Torres! http://www.4thegame.com/club/liverpool-fc/news/247301/gerrard_learns_from_mistakes.html
Did anyone else see these ridiculous player of the month nominations? TORRES VERSUS ROONEY How Gerrard made it into the 4 man shortlist ahead of Yossi or Johnson is amazing. He's been one player who's been a bit down over the start of the season, compared with Yossi and Johnson who have both been very consistent and scored 5 goals between them as well as creating more than 5 goals for our team.
I'm surprised Adebayor isn't on the short list. he had 4 match winners in their first 4 games. I suppose its down to his conduct at the Arsenal game
Gerrard would struggle to get into Liverpool's top 4, let alone Premier League top 4 right now. It's the "John Wayne" syndrome, as somebody called it.
