i saw this in the suntime. here is part of the article what beasley says. http://www.suntimes.com/output/fire/cst-spt-firent15.html
Well, you gotta give the kid one thing - he is consistent. Sometimes though, I think that rather than DMB, his nickname should be DMF (first letter standing for "dumb"). I don't think I've ever been so anxious to see an American player get a crack at Europe (or just the reverse, depending on how you look at it). Cue the Chifan outcry:
Hey, at least he is standing. God knows after a Revs-Fire game several players are bound to be unable to do so.
Probably less than most -- they DID win the MLS Team Fair Play Award this year. So, the Revs don't play "good soccer"? What does that mean? They were over .500, so they must have been doing something good. They aren't exactly a bunker-ball kind of team, seeing as how they've led the league in goals in each of the last two seasons. They had the fewest yellow cards and the fewest red cards in the league this year... So, what's the *#*#*#*#*#in' problem?
I've seen about as much hacking from him towards Rev players as he gets from the Revs. The guy's behavior at the end of last year's playoff series (when the Revs were eliminating the Fire) was only slightly more sportsmanlike that Rasov's was.
That "Friendly Fire" snippet in the Sun Times is interesting. It seems as though the "sister" relationship between Chicago and Morelia is intensifying. Let's see. First it looks like we'll have Chivas USA in 2004. Next, we may see Club America buy out the Earthquakes in 2005 and create Club America de San Jose. In, say, 2007, might Morelia buy out the Fire and change their name to the Chicago Monarchs? Hmmm. The conspiracy theorist in me says watch out or MLS might become the Northern Division of the MFL.
I agree with everything you say. I think, possibly, the problem can be summed up in two words: Jay Heaps. Heaps hacks the hell out of DMB, and then after every foul screams at the ref like a petulant child as if he hasn't done anything. It probably just gets old for the youngin' DMB. But I'm just guessing.
And maybe this: ``It was one of those things where we didn't want to go forward as a team, because if we lost the ball we'd leave too much space behind us,'' Ralston said. ``So we'd attack with three or four players and it wasn't enough.'' from http://sports.bostonherald.com/soccer/soccer.bg?articleid=67&format=
Or bitter that he lost to the Revs in '02... That was an ugly, ugly Revs team and it had to suck to lose to them. But you know, after the Revs upgraded this season, I'm not sure you can keep on holding last year's team against them...
Beasley is just fustrated that he gets fouled so often (although he should get used to it). I would get fustrated to if I played against Heaps and Pierce. They are both a couple of hackers. Not to mention we really didn't play very good soccer in the game Friday. The only thing that sucks about this is that Beasley doesn't know better than to keep his mouth shut. This kind of stuff isn't professional and whatever his thoughts about a team that he just beat in overtime he shouldn't make those kinds of remarks to the media.
You gotta give a guy (DMB that is) props for sticking to his guns, especially when the gun is so clearly pointed at his foot. Good lord what does it take to get this kid to shut up?
