I'm sick of these college coaches, sorry if anyone here is a college coach or college player but we need a coach with international experience. The US soccer federation needs to shell out some money, (not millions and millions) but a little bit more money, get this money from somewhere, who cares..sponsors maybe but we need a real proven, veteran, internationally experienced coach! If we had the audacity to pay several millions to bring wack ass Beckham to MLS, then I'm sure we can look for more money to bring a European coach to the U.S. Clowns are in charge of the US soccer federation and MLS, what happened to Klinnsman? Why did Gulati choose an assistant coach to become the head coach? Are we really that blind? Why can't we spend money on a coach? I'm sorry but IMO Gulati must also go, what important decisions has he made?
First, unless Tim Leiweke posts here, none of us paid anything to have Beckham come here. It's easy to tell other people to spend their money. Second, MLS isn't the USSF. Third, Beckham generated millions in ticket revenue and merchandising, which allowed the Galaxy and MLS to recoup the money spent on him. A new manager wouldn't do that.
Tim Leiweke can do whatever he wants with his money, bringing Beckham here was just another gimmick like Andre Shue. I know MLS is not USSF IMO we need a new coach.
Your conclusion remains the same, but the first argument you made to support that conclusion was invalid. You said "We brought Beckham, so we could surely find more money." As if it were simply a matter of the USSF lifting up the couch cushions to find the needed money. But since different people would have to put up the money to bring in a new coach and since a new coach wouldn't be a draw who recoups losses in the same way that Beckham did/does, then just wanting a new coach isn't the name thing as being able to afford one. And if people want a new coach who will significantly raise our chances of getting the US out of the first round of the WC (if we qualify), then we will probably have to spend big money on him. Probably at least $5m, if HIddink's $10m salary is any guide. Maybe the USSF has that money. Maybe it would be worth spending it. But let's not pretend it's as easy as waving our hands and saying, "Make it so."
You have every right to your opinion. But you see, some opinions are good, and some opinions are basically crap, reflecting a lack of knowledge, inability to structure a good argument, and just general intellectual sloppiness. Just my opinion.
Of course everybody has a right to an opinion. But having a right and being right are very different things. Convincing people that your opinions are right involves offering reasons to accept those opinions. I gave reasons for why I don't find your opinions plausible. If you want to explain why I'm wrong, feel free. If not, enjoy your opinions.
I think this cup is his D-day. I used to be more of a supporter of Bradley than I have been recently. I always thought blaming BB was just hating on someone who's doing the best he can with a squad that is not as good as people like to think we are. Afterall, it's the clubs where the players get most of their development, not the nats. And except for Howard, Boca, and Dempsey we don't have any players that are consistantly in the starting 11 for a top-flight club in a major European league. However, I haven't had much ground to stand on recently when I try to defend him. Now, I don't expect us to beat Italy or Brazil(big surprise there). I do expect us to get outplayed, I just don't expect us to get blown out 4-0 or worse. If we do, then it'll be on BB. I do, however, expect us to beat Egypt. Now Egypt is a very, very good team. They won the AFC twice in a row beating the likes of Ivory Coast. They're one of the more underated teams in the world. Their attack is a big threat with Mido and Mohammad Zidan....and a little known player(at least by casual fans) by the name of Mohamed Aboutrika who's probably one of the best players in the world who plays outside of Europe. I still believe we have a team capable of beating them. If the team can at least beat Egypt, and not get too embarrased by Brazil and Italy, than I think BB might be able to keep his job. Sorry haters.
YankBastard, I don't think 0-3 cans Bradley. These are friendlys afterall and two of these games are certain losses. The real games are clearly the qualifiers then the WC next summer. Changing coaches during qualifying would be a huge mistake; see Mexico. However, if Bob goes 0-3 and the US plays poorly then changing coaches AFTER we qualify should be explored.
Are you referring to the Copa America? I recall the US winning the Gold Cup and playing outstanding versus Mexico. Lets wait and see how the team performs in the CC. Clearly if Bob goes with a B team approach to the Gold Cup then like the Copa America the results are rather meaningless.
Me? Bitter? Business is good, the wine cellar is expanding, and I've cooked some excellent dinners lately. On here, I'm having a great time wiping the intellectual floor with the various lunatics who profess to have insight when, basically, they're delusional. So, bitter? Not the word I would choose but, hey, that's just my opinion.
Here's great article on Bradley...and couldn't agree more: http://www.yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=4800
Great article, except for, you know, the omission of ching's injury, which in all likelihood was what caused bob to roll the dice in saprissa. Edu's injury didnt effect the team at all, because Edu had only actually been playing for his squad for a little. Almost all of the complaints aimed at Bob in this opinion piece are actually more a criticism of the player's inability to develop over the past 7 years.
The first and third small paragraphs above form the most bitter thread KarlK, the original Bitter Man, has ever put out. How bitter? So bitter that Karl forgot to include his signature random capitalized words [random, but with an extra weight of probability attached to "ANY"], which payed homage to the oeuvre of Son of Sam, von Brunn, and that character who was held in thrall by the Z-rays emanating from the top of the Chrysler building. So bitter that the word "analysis" never appears and, in the end, he finishes with mere opinion. However, that second paragraph shows KK with a smile and a light step. Not close to his happy camper best, but a whiff of the good ol' droog mincing into the tunnel. There are those here who will miss him, but then they are the same blighters who are partial to singing in the rain.
"With a very busy summer, the US players will be spending a lot of time together. If they can't gel during this time, then it's obvious that a change needs to be made, or the US will suffer the same fate as Mexico, which slept on its laurels, fell on its face and is now choking a on a huge slice of dirt cake." Agreed. So let's see if, and hope that, the team does gel in these next two months
