Utrecht are just behind Heerenveen, so the Frisians have to win this match to prevent the team of coach van Hanegem to overtake them. It will be difficult, as FC Utrecht has recovered from their home play fear. It was as if there was a curse on the team playing at home, but sadly (I didlike this club very much) they recovered and since a few matches ago they are playing with confidence at home now. I really hope Heerenveen will smash that confidence.
It is doubtful that Bak Nielssen will be able to enforce the defense against FC Utrecht. If so, Mike will have to concentrate most on the defensive side of his tasks as Utrech will be attacking like a wirlwind. Alves has been given extra leave, so there is no chance that he will bind an extra player in the defense. SC Heerenveen signed a new midfielder, 24 year old Norwegian international Christian Grindheim. He seems to be a very good player and when coach Verbeek was asked why they bought a midfielder, while they already have a good set of players for that line, he answered that the rest has to show that they are up to the competition. The best plays. Now something about the coach changes that are going to take place. German newspapers stated with certainty that van Basten is going to coach Bayern after the EC 2008. Though that is a possibility, I doubt it. I think he's going to end up coaching Ajax, so Verbeek isnot going to Ajax. Feyenoord coach van Marwijk is named as the certain new coach for the Orange team by the press, and I thought that would open up the place for Martin Jol, the former Tottenham coach. Now that I realize that van Basten probably willnot go to Bayern, I fear that Jol, who is a former player of Bayern will be their next coach. So that leaves Feyenoord with only one option in this coach swapping game, Verbeek, unless we can persuade Co Adriaanse to take the seat after all. Or maybe Foppe de Haan is in the running too.
Things are getting worse for Heerenveen. It is possible that the goalie Brian Vandenbusschewill be absent too.
Jan Wouters might be looking for a job in the new year. Or perhaps Ronald Koeman, after he gets sacked in his current job? Or Henk ten Cate after Chelsea get tired of him? These are all great options for 010.
You really cannot stand us being on top of you, admit it That's why you want us to sign one of those coaches
Verbeek has made the decision, that whether Alves is sold or not, he willnot be playing for Heerenveen this season any more. Verbeek is fed up with the unrest the situation around Alves is creating in the team. So it looks like a long holiday for Alves if he isnot sold this transfer window.
For the Yanks who are in the (neighbourhood of the) Netherlands 2/29 2008 untill 3/3/2008, SC Heerenveen is having a Heerenveen Family Event where you can play ball with your Heerenveen idols. http://www.sc-heerenveen.nl/ The match will be a close call as the teams are quite on a par in their confrontations. It seems to be certain that the goalie is out for the match.
Mike has a new haircut: and Heerenveen take the lead in the first minute, freekick by Pranjic, great work by the Utrecht keeper...
Hmmm, not exactly a clinical finish, but I'll take it all the same. Doesn't hurt that this keeper appears to be awful.
There's a post on the sc.herenveen.org that says there are scouts from Everton, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Manchester United there.(not sure how they know this) Edit:Apparently the tv announcers mentioned it: http://sc.heerenveen.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3743&start=60
Yeah, he said also he didn't know who they're watching. Good moment to score though. HT now, score 0-2 for Heerenveen, Utrecht close to scoring just before the break.
Mike sure seems to get a ton of 'lay up' goals and deflection, but to his credit (and this video shows), he does the little things really well. Watch how he shuffles his feet, and move a few feet out and wide to create an angle for the pass. The defender's head is turned, so he can't see where Bradley is. Sure, its a playground goal, but Bradley knows how to create that lil' bit of space in those situations. He's pretty clever either moving quick or using physicality to get there. Holland basically uses Mexican goalies don't they?
Absolutely, it's a knack and a really useful one to have. Lol, sadly, Mexico seems to have solved their goalkeeper issues.
I'd really like to know who those scouts are there for. Alves? He's on the bench? Any other rising stars in this game?
