Re: Who should be Englands next manager? get Mourinho. If we get him then it will be worth missing 2008. sometimes you have to hit the canvas before things can improve
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Obviously I'm prejudiced on the matter, but I swear JM would take the job as a matter of pride. He would win for his winning's sake.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? he hates the media over here. Any abuse he got with Chelsea would be multiplied by 100 with this job. I dont think he will work in England again.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Pat Dolan would be an excellent ''no nonsense'' manager. The FA need to employ someone who will tell it like it is -and big Pat is just that. No more pandering to the FA and their choices of managers who won't speak up. Vote Pat.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? This is why I'm confused as to why he wouldn't take it. If he won the World Cup with us, he could then call himself a world champion, and claim he's even more amazing than he has already claimed.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? JM has a lot more to lose than to gain by taking the England job. And it's arguably the hardest job in football. Think about it, who was the last England manager who wasn't considered a failure when he stepped down?
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? all of them apart from ramsey. hoho It is very hard for sure. The media is a massive monkey on the back of the team.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Its hard becasue of expectation if england fans got realistic then things would be a lot easier for managers and players. If I had to choose it would be:- Luis Scolari or Jose Mourinho or Martin O Neill In that order.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7107060.stm Scolari would be my first choice, but Capello would be great too.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Harry would be good but will he be offered it as Jamie Rednapp does not think he will..I just pray for a decent manager.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Barwick will appoint mcClarens assistant!!! oh wait a sec.....
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Let's see here, getting rid of the impossible like Wenger or Fergie, and any deadwood which no idiot would consider: Jose Mourinho: Will make England play ugly football with long passes, but he might work. Then again he might not; untested in international level. Plus he's probably better off in club football. Martin O Neill: Interesting choice, but Villa is not going to let him go Luis Scolari: Look at the last time he was linked to the job Guus Hiddink: My personal favourite, the one most likely to bring a trophy to England Sam Allardyce: He seems to have lost the plot in Newcastle in recent times Fabio Capello: If he gets the job I am sure that people will be begging for McSven to come back. Cause he's Sven version 3. Steve Coppell: Unproven Stuart Pearce: Interesting choice, but let's see how far he can bring the U-21 first Marcelo Lippi: Again will play negative football, but I do respect him more than Capello Harry Redknapp: I will rather have him then many of the other choices, but let's move on. Mark Hughes: Proven at international level, a wonderful choice. But too good for international football
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? I think Villa would let O'Neill go but after the FA's treatment of him last time I am not sure he still wants the job. Mark Hughes is waiting for the United job so is not going to go anywhere.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? I would like to see Jose Mourinho as much as the next guy but I can't see him taking an International job or any job in england for that matter. I hope the FA goes for someone who has proven themselves at the top level, and don't make the same mistakes they made last time. They seems to take a fancy to crap english Middlesbrough managers. can you imagine southgate as england manager? Or if Jose and the other top choices turn them down they pannic and go for the tatical genius Gary Megson!
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? My only concern with Mourinho is that success at international level is very few and far between. There are two trophies that you can win, and they come aronud every 2 years. When they do come round, you are one of maybe 6 teams that can win it, which is more than any league, and it's not based on consistancy. It's based on one-off results. I'm not sure that's Jose's cup of tea personally. Why would he take "the impossible job" and risk his reputation when he can pretty much take his pick from Europes top sides and get paid hondsomely for it. He has options in the transfer market to boot. As for the rest: Some of them have to be a joke. Paul Ince? David Beckham? Peter Taylor? Stewart Pearce? Give me a break. Wenger will never leave Arsenal and he'd be crazy to even if they offered him the job, which they won't. Lippi is a perfect candidate, but having just won the WC, he's gone on an extended break and I don't think theprospect of managing Joleon Lescott and Paul Robinson, amongst others, really floats his boat. Scolari and Hiddink have both just qualified for the tournament that we failed to get to, so why would they leave. Capello has registered his interest and I'd take him. Successful, assertive, tactically strong and interested. Perfect, so obviously the FA won't appoint him.....
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Im supprised not to see MARTIN JOL on the list. Get him involved, we will always attack it will be great.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? Mourinho as the favorite certainly is interesting considering he has publicly stated that the only national team he would be interested in managing is Portugal. Bookies generally don't enjoy losing money, so I can't really figure that one out. If I were a betting man, I'd throw a tenner at O'Neill and Capello. In my opinion, those two are the clear favorites, Capello's long odds are particularly puzzling.
Re: Who should be Englands next manager? I think beyond tactics, England need someone with standing, skill, and courage, to get these players-especially the core of the midfield-to buy into a system that is much more flexible vis-a-vis the roles of the players and the systems they play in. Sven was only partly able to do this trying to get the players to buy into the diamond-and look how many times that issue was a talking point; how this group will fall back to 4-4-2; the debate about where to play Gerard at Liverpool. I'm not advocating one or the other. I'm talking about flexibility and adaptation to situations in the big picture. This group falls into old habits very quickly in tight moments. Very predictable side to manage against. I think your problem is deeper than the tactics. With this group England need a really talented man-manager who can sell a different type of football.
Well, looks like you did not get oyur wish. McClaren has been given the push. Hurrah! Now, PLEASE FA, do not stuff this up! Get someone decent! PLEASE!
Get Capello. Yesterday live on Italian TV he said he has the right age to try the very hard task of coaching the english national team. With him on the bench surely your defense won't let a Croatia score 3 goals at Wembley.
