Well folks I think we have read in the supposed Champions League thread that the big boys of the corrupt in CONCACAF are sticking to their guns. But I have been thinking that there should be some form of another Cup Competition based on the Copa SudAmericana.

Simply call it the CONCACAF Cup.

It took me a while to think about the set up, but maybe I might have found a way. Now I'm not sure how CONMEBOL creates the seeds for the clubs in their confederation, but maybe this idea could help out. If anyone has any ideas or a different idea, let me know.

Basically I thought the clubs that lost in the qualifying for the Champions Cup should get the chance to particpate in this idea.

    Here is the set up.

From MLS & FMF Four clubs will enter the Round of 16 along with the 4th place finisher of the UNCAF CCC Qualifying & the Runner up from the CFU CCC Qualifying.

MLS CUP RUNNER UP: Houston or New England (USA)
MLS CUP SEMI-FINALIST EAST: Chicago Fire (USA)
MLS CUP SEMI-FINALIST WEST: Kansas City Wizards (USA)
MLS CUP BEST QUARTERFINALIST DIFFERENTIAL: NY/CHV (USA) (will have a one match playoff. They only gave up one goal)

Now from Mexico I was thinking the Runners up from both the Apertura & Clausura seasons. Also some form of a bid for a Semi-Finalist from both the Apertura & Clausura seasons. Since I'm not familiar with the Mexican league can someone please tell me if there is a playoff system? How it works and stuff. Thank you.

Here are the clubs from UNCAF

UNCAF Clubs Eliminated from Champions Cup Qualifying

UNCAF 1ST ROUND: FC Belize (BLZ)
UNCAF 1ST ROUND: Once Municipal (SLV)
UNCAF 1ST ROUND: AD Isidro Metapan (SLV)
UNCAF 1ST ROUND: Revolutionary Conquerors (BLZ)
UNCAF 1ST ROUND: Tauro FC (PAN)
UNCAF 1ST ROUND: Real Madriz (NCA)
UNCAF 1ST ROUND: Real Elteli (NCA)
UNCAF 1ST ROUND: CD Olimpia (HON)
    UNCAF QUARTERFINAL: Puntarenas (CRC)
UNCAF QUARTERFINAL: Real CD Espana (HON)
    UNCAF QUARTERFINAL: Xelaju MC (GUA)
UNCAF QUARTERFINAL: San Francisco FC (PAN)
UNCAF 4TH PLACE: Alajuelense (CRC) or CSD Municipal (GUA) Goes to Round of 16

CFU Clubs eliminated from Champions Cup Qualifying

CFU GROUP A 2ND: SV Deportivo Nacional (ARU)
CFU GROUP B 2ND: Sagicor South East Utd (DMA)
CFU GROUP C 3RD: Inter Moengotapoe (SUR)
CFU GROUP D 3RD: SV Leo Victor (SUR)
CFU GROUP E 3RD: Pinar del Rio (CUB)
PLAYOFF WINNER: Hitachi Centre Sap FC (C4) Vs. Jong Colombia (E4)
CFU QUARTERFINAL: Portmore United FC (JAM)
CFU QUARTERFINAL: SV Leo Victor (SUR)
CFU QUARTERFINAL: Baltimore de St. Marc (HAI)
    CFU QUARTERFINAL: Bassa SC (ATG)
CFU SEMI-FINAL: Harbour View/San Juan Jabloteh Loser
CFU SEMI-FINAL: Puerto Rico Islanders/Joe Public FC Loser
CFU RUNNER-UP: HV/Jab Vs P.R./Joe Public loser Goes to Round of 16

All matches will be goal aggregate and if CONCACAF does impliment the Away Goals Rule then that would be fine, if not then I say Overtime & Penalties after the 2nd legs. The draw would mix and match the UNCAF clubs against the CFU clubs. Two rounds and then those winners will meet up with those clubs in the Round of 16 for a re-draw.

    Round 1 is 12 matches
    Round 2 is 6 Matches
Then the Round of 16 with the 4 MLS, 4 FMF, 1 UNCAF automatic bid, 1 CFU automatic bid.

If anyone else has an idea of their own go ahead and type it up. I'm just throwing my 2 cents out here for better cup competitions in our Confederation.

CONCACAF used to have the Recopa CONCACAF which disapeared in 1998. Ojala que la Champions del 2009 sea un exito porque esta es la confederacion mas atrasada del mundo. Tu idea esta buena, el problema es que aqui nadie nos escucha.

    good idea, but impossible

90% of those clubs don´t have the money to play a tournament like that, it will be cool to have an alternative tournament, but we could still have the UNCAF and Caribbean cups, my 2¢

Guys, just wait to see how the CCL will do before thinking on a 2nd cup which you may end up hating and/or finding it a waste.
