why peguy? along with diane, he's been one of our better recruits up front ever since his arrival - certainly our attack has really benefitted from his ability to hold up the ball and pass it around with his back to goal.

I prefer Yepes to Rozenhal - while its true that he's not solely at fault for all the goals we conceded, but his marking and aerial ability in the box are fairly awful (not as bad as Mendy though, for sure), and his penchant for giving away freekicks in bad positions hurts us.

Good news about Armand, we've made an extension offer that he hopefully will accept this week

To tell you the truth, I was upset to see that yepes was put on the transfer list... players like kalou, mendy and cisse have said their byebyes for me and i have already imagined next year's team w/ out them... but yepes to me has done a great job in the back and the armand - rozenhal - yepes trio was real solid...

and to tell you the truth, if we can afford makelele, i would not hesitate in bringing him on board... anybody know how much he would cost to get from chelsea? the other prob is his salary which will prob be similar or around Pauleta's (around 4 MM euros)...

Quire frankly I really want to see who Le Guen will sign. I trust him, and I will stand by the decisions he makes.

One of my hopes though is that he revamps the center of midfield. I hope Cisse leaves, Clement starts along with Rothen on the left. But then who would be RCM and RM? Hopefully Baning could start with Kalou on the right wing. Then up front we could have Luyindula, with a forward that is yet to be named...

The last hope I would have would be to buy a good central defender who can help our defensive stablity.

Re: PSG Transfer Thread

baning and kalou? those are two players that really don't deserve a start or a place in the squad based on their performances and ability. Unfortunately, Baning was a poor transfer as he was never capable of playing in Ligue 1 - in spite of all the positive scouting and press the club tried to stir up about his performances in... China. And as for Kalou, I wouldn't lose any sleep at all if he never puts on the psg shirt ever again. In fact, i'd probably sleep better because it means we might bring on somebody who is more talented and gives 100 percent every game.

The entire right side needs reinforcement, as we've haven't had a true right winger for a while and are now forced to play through the left and rely on a lower standard on the right. PLG is probably looking for someone to replace mendy, who really is an shaky defender both in the box and along the flank. So that's two players that we need to bring in - selling Kalou and Mendy will go a long way towards getting some extra funds available. Add in there a center back and a central midfielder, and I think we'll have a great squad next year (yes, we should bring in a striker, but we have a number of young players that should work fine if we can manage to clean up our supporting play - i.e. n'gog, Rodriguez and Diane, and other loaned out players like Rudy Haddad)

-----

On another note, one area that we don't need reinforcement is in the goalkeeping department because Landreau is the man. So, the young Nicolas Cousin is headed off to join FC Angers

Wow, I agree with almost everything the above poster said. Haddad though I think is a lost prospect. What a shame. He's got a good amount of ability, though he can't put it together. As for Kalou, I've always thought it odd that he doesn't give it his all. After all, I think that he's stated on many occasions that he likes Paris a lot. Oh well, perhaps Lens is interested, after all, they're apparently close to signing Akalé (is that Guy Roux making an impact?) who played well with Kalou at Auxerre.

there are some very bad rumours about Pauleta leaving us for any Portuguese clubs, in particular Benfica
This sucks, how are we supposed to give him the final ovation he deserves if he leaves during the summer?

And how come every summer his agent starts stirring things up, is he expecting us to give Pedro a raise every year?

probably :D pedro's getting old, so his agent needs to make his money before the well runs dry!

to add onto the whole luyindula/lazio rumor, check this out from calcio france (saw it on soccers.fr):
"Luyindula, lui, a fait savoir à son club qu'il voulait une augmentation de salaire pour la saison prochaine. Le joueur , qui a accepté de rejoindre la capitale française en faisant un gros effort financier, demande une revalorisation à la suite d'une bonne saison sous les couleurs parisiennes. Si le club résiste, il pourrait alors avoir envie de voir ailleurs. La Lazio s'est donc ainsi placé." (i.e. if this is indeed true, then he wants a raise after six months at the club...le salauuuddd!!! honestly, i'm sure his salary is just fine )

Armand, interviewed by InfoPSG (you can listen to the interview here: http://www.infopsg.com/divers-psg-6-itw_sylvain_armand.html), has pretty much confirmed his desire to stay at the club. Good news!

Toulouse is interested in getting Christian Rodriguez in order to prepare for their Champions League run next season. According to Eurosport, PSG will ask for 6 million euros for the uruguayan.

Kalou, who is New York right now (Gotham, or Allez Paris Allez PSG, if you see that clown, please kick him in the ass) on vacation, might desire a transfer to Lens. While PSG will probably be more than happy to get rid of him, they will only do so for a good price - lens, however, seems more apt to bring him up north on a loan with an option to buy.

ASSE's Zoumana Camara wants to join Paris to experience a new challenge. The 28 year old has made his intention to leave pretty explicit and ASSE will proabably sign Lille's Efstathios Tavlaridis to replace him.

According to France Football, Marseille are taking a close look at Rothen whom they think of as a possible replacement for Ribery. Scandalous!

I was reading that Alou Diarra wants out of Lyon and Giuly wants away from Barca.

Also, whatever happened to the rumors of Makelele? I never did hear him deny it.

hah they can take that close look and shove it up their ass. Too much sun methinks, it's impairing their decision making.

Looks like Zoumana Camara is going to be our first recruit of the summer. Alain Roche pretty much said he'll be coming to Paris on RMC  ASSE have already covered their loss by signing Tavlaridis from Lille. So it looks like Camara will be in, but it depends on how much. It would be a damn shame if we spent too much. And hopefully Newcastle will splash out the cash like it tends to do, and pay handsomely for Rozenhal.

Nice: Antonetti is due to Hellebuyck (15/06/2007)
Concerned to start again itself after one season missed in Paris-SG, the medium of ground David Hellebuyck (28 years, 12 matches of L1 into 2006/07, 1 goal) currently seeks a new club. The former Inhabitant of Saint-Etienne, who would interest several English stables, should however remain in League 1. The FC Metz transmitted an offer to the PSG, just like the OGC Nice. This last club would have the favours of Hellebuyck. The trainer of the Eaglets, Frederic Antonetti, who knows the left-handed person well to have had it under his orders with Saint-Etienne, in did one as of the his principal priorities. Now remain to find an agreement financial with the parts concerned... (By Patrick Juillard)

PSG: the track Gonzalo Higuain (15/06/2007)
Gonzalo Higuain (19 years, 18 matches this season in Liga, 2 goals) could first be surprised well Parisian estival mercato. Far from being transcendent with Real Madrid, the Argentinian wonder could perfect its ranges during one year in the capital, according to the Yugoslav daily newspaper Glas Javnosti. The transaction, in the form of a loan with option to buy, would depend in particular on the future of Pauleta under the Parisian tunic and on the imposing wages of the Portuguese striker. If the Eagle of the Azores finally had suddenly joined Benfica Lisbon, Paris Saint-Germain could thus deal with the expensive contract of the attacker inhabitant of Madrid. Gonzalo Higuain would thus find its former fellow-member and mentor To river plate: Marcelo Gallardo. Business to be followed... (By Romain Degrange)

that translation is painful to read
As painful as the crap they're writing. Apparently that same newspaper has been linking us to some unknown Serbian player from Partizan, and in return we send them Chantome and Diane
lol

I just wanted to say that with our actual budget, all those rumors are not worth even being read. It's nice to dream but in our case I think we should totally forget about it and focus on the team we have.
If we look at how we ended the season, the group is more than capable of playing the first five spots. And with the rise of our youngsters, better use them in the next year, and focus on stars next summer

Looks like we're following Rennes's DM, Grégory Bourillon. Youngster, and has good potential given last season, which was unfortunately cut by injury. Perhaps Nanbawan can give a better assessment of him.

well if 25 million euros is our budget, then we have some considerable options. Firstly, and this goes towards PLG's apparent satisfaction with the current team, even if their performances increased in quality, let's not forget that this is a team that was battling it out with difficulty against the weakest teams in the league! If we want to be a 13-15 placed team, then yes by all means, let's keep these losers.
The current team doesn't have any capacity to even attain a top five finish - it's too inconsistent and has too many players who exist as deadweight. Getting rid of Mendy, Kalou, Cisse, Baning, Hellebuyck (and any other players who didn't even see action), will augment our budget and help clear out those players who don't help produce a unified and committed team - the first three in particular.
I really don't care if Cisse has been here for all his career, it doesn't mean that he deserves to wear the shirt. He doesn't "bleed" for the club - he's a mediocre player with a mediocre attitude who dissappears and lets his teammates get run over. I'd rather have Rodriguez, possibly the worst tackler in the club (maybe the planet), partner Clement.

There's no doubt about Cisse's mediocrity, but I think he does have the love for his shirt.

...Je ne cracherai jamais sur ce club.

hm i remember a couple months back the team took a trip by bus to an important away game in order to develop some cohesive spirit. guess who refused to go on the bus because it "takes too long" for their liking? kalou, cisse, and mendy.

it's easy for one to kiss the badge and proclaim one's love for the club when it's paying your salary. it's much more difficult, yet altogether more essential, to demonstrate this devotion on the pitch.
