PSG in London Apologies if this has been posted but PSG are taking part in the Emirates Cup at Arsenal on 28/29th July as part of a pre-season friendly tournament http://www.arsenal.com/membership/article.asp?article=463702 Before I buy my tickets on 22nd May, does anyone have any idea where in the stadium the PSG fans will congregate? I want to sit with fellow fans! Cheers Ben
Re: PSG in London my only regret is that they won't play against Inter Also playing two games in two days, I guess they'll use the youngsters for one and the pros for the other
Re: PSG in London do you guys know anywhere internet links i could see the PSG game at, its going to be interesting to see them play Arsenal..hopefully with all their pros
Re: PSG in London I found this on planetepsg... it mentions on the bottom that Arsenal fans will get priority seating (i guess it's what you get when you name your stadium after the company)... but I don't think they'll have any updates on the PSG website for a few weeks still, at least not before the end of the season...
Re: PSG in London I think I will go to this - tickets come on general sale soon. Does anybody know where the PSG fans are sitting?
Re: PSG in London I tried to buy some through Arsenal yesterday but it said they were only selling them to Arsenal fans. How/where did you get yours?
Re: PSG in London I got them on the web through Arsenal. I had to register to their site (which made me feel dirty) but after that it was very straight forward. Try this.... http://www.arsenal.com/membership/article.asp?article=463702 & https://eticketing.co.uk/arsenal/default.aspx All went smoothly and I got a receipt via e-mail pretty much instantaneousely. I am in Area: 23 Lower Tier. Guess I wont be with PSG fans potentially but hey ho, I'm there.
Re: PSG in London sweet man, take some pictures. there is a PSG fanclub in london, mostly comprised of Parisian students and expats who have "fled" france for the big bucks of the UK. From what I've seen, some of them have been looking to get tickets so keep on the lookout for them!
While our exciting offseason is surely keeping us at the edge of our seats the team is going to london to play two games. The first will be against Arsenal (supposedly no longer with Henry in the fold if one believes the rumors), the second against Valencia. http://www.psg.fr/fr/news/show.php?id=12030 (Guignol if you could kindly merge this thread with the 'psg in london' thread a couple rangs down, much appreciated)
How do you figure? It's the summer, the players just got back from vacation the day before, half of them are unaware of their status with the club because of the transfer season, and all of those who haven't been playing international games should be lacking in match readiness. The result? Poor football. Sure, the names are nice, but that's about it - the point of the matches is getting back to fitness, rather than exerting the players and increasing the risk for injury either immediately or further down as the season kicks off. If it helps the club earn some cash, even better.
I meant how they rarily get to play against each other. It just seems weird to me seeing Arsenal players and PSG players on the same pitch.
well the games won't have much meaning except maybe for prestige, unless if Emirates pay a large bonus for the winners Of course, our players will be motivated to show their skills against 3 other big clubs that aren't in the same shyte we are in. Still, if I had to guess, Paulo will play our big names against Arsenal for the first game and the reserves the next day against Valencia (since Hamburg declined the invitation). It's a shame that Henry has been sold, but on the other hand, if Arsenal does in fact buy Anelka, that would be equally interesting.
I've found that the games will be televised for those who have Setanta Sports Or for those of us who do not, at your local pub
here's the group that will go to London: It's a shame Rodriguez is still on vacation, this could have been a good opportunity for him to further shine this summer and increase his worth
last i heard, sochaux might be interested in him. in any case, well, the team is shaping up to be pretty good (on paper). like seb said, another attacker would really raise our profile, but the patient approach is better than hastily buying a flop, for sure. the backline will be the focus for the cup i think, both for getting matchtime and seeing who will partner up with who.
I don't know about you guys, but I am very excited about this, even more so than the official and more important game against Sochaux Still, here's what Popol had to say: As expected, he will field two teams, if I had to guess, our starting XI against Arsenal and the subs against Valencia
ASNL 2:1 PSG (since when does the AS Nancy Lorraine play in London? ) Well it was a pretty good match to watch, I enjoyed the high intensity from both teams. As usual, we get not just one, but two goals a la con, d'ailleurs le second aurait ete siffle' comme faute dans la L1, but 'tis is england, a little physical contact isn't a mortal sin The team as a whole was really good, with some really good combinations, but in the end, our offense just couldn't put the balls in, credit to a good Arsenal keeper, whatever his name is, and some bad luck on our side. In particular, Luyundula. When are we going to fire him? I'll give him credit for saving us last season, but no matter how good his goal was today, when I think back of all the chances he ruined, I don't rate him any higher than Kalou. And to think that ex-Marseillais has the audacity to ask for a raise, what an ass. Frau was rather sleepy for the first half but when he turned on, we were able to see some good things from him, it's a shame that we have to stuck him in the midfield. Our left side was on the down low, some good things but nothing special from either Armand nor Rothen. Pauleta wasn't everywhere, but he was dangerous whenever he got the ball. Next comes the defense. Pfff, what can we expect from Traore? Or Camara, for the price we got ripped off! They fared well throughout but had some moments of serious problems against the fast attacks coming at the start of the second half. Mulumbu only plays because of Mendy. But while he tried well to help on the offensive side, he was overrun when he had to help out in the back. At the half he changed positions with Digard, who did good. Then the young n'Goyi came in, nothing much to say. Now here's the best part of the whole game, our midfielders, Clement and Digard. They were awesome. Digard, for the first game I've seen of his, has a lot of potential. The two together were almost a match made in heaven. We can expect good things from those two. As to Landreau, almost perfect, except for those two stupid goals, which the defense is to blame. As well as for the pk, but then again, those are Micka's favorite, and coupled with a poor attempt, it was no surprise he stopped it. It's a shame Diane wasn't brought in, I think he had potential to change the game outlook. PLG made just one substitution in the whole game, which shouldn't have surprised me as much as it first did, since this is the last game for the team before the real deal next weekend, it will be pretty much the same team. Tomorrow we should see the subs play against Valencia
The goals: Flamini's 1:0 http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/arsenal+-+psg/video/x2n2t3_arsenal-psg-10-flamini_sport Bendter's 2:0 http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/arsenal+-+psg/video/x2n2v0_arsenal-psg-20-bendtner_sport Luyundula's 2:1 http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/psg+arsenal/video/x2n2w7_luyindula-21-arsenal-psg_sport
Arsenal 2 - 1 PSG FT Flamini 45 Luyindula 80 Bendtner 70 First game of the emirates cup is an undeserved 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. We had a great first half where we were the dominant team, yet against the run of play went in 1-0 down to a Flamini goal. In the second half Arsenal came out and played much better and we were on the back foot, yet still playing well. Then in the 70th minute Landreau came for a corner and didn't reach it (possibly fouled by Bendtner) and so the young Arsenal forward had a tap in. After going 2-0 down the team responded really positively and the game turned into an end to end encounter with us pulling a goal back through a fantastic back heel chip from Peggy of a low, driven Frau cross. In the dying minutes a silly tackle from Camara on Hleb gave away a penalty. Bendtner steeped up to take it and Landreau saved low to his left comfortably. Overall, although we lost we deserved a draw as it was great performance of team-working and hard graft. The link-up play in the midfield was excellent with some nice one-twos and the team seems to be gelling nicely. The only negative was a poor debut from Camara, consistently out muscled, he switched off to allow Flamini in for their first goal and he also gave away a needless penalty, however he only joined on Tuesday so we should cut him some slack. The best thing about the game today was that the team played like a team. Everyone played hard and for each other. It is really encouraging for the rest of the season as the days of stroppy, over-payed pre madonna's dominating the pitch at the Pdp looks well and truly over. Team: Landreau – Mulumbu (Ngoyi, 75e), Traoré, Camara, Armand - Frau, Digard, Clément, Rothen - Pauleta, Luyindula.
Happy to hear all this, I didn't get the opportunity to watch the game, even the delayed on Setanta as I've been out all day, but happy to hear Digard did well (I was definitely one who was in support of his transfer). Again, as aforementioned, I fear putting balls into the back of the net will be our biggest issue. The high team work that was apparently shown in this game? What else do you expect from a team led by the best manager in L1?
^there are some torrents out there, i'm getting one right now (will post some impressions later). what's with this new board format :/
