After 30 games, and thus with only a handful of games left, DC United's leading scorer for the season with 4 goals is Own Goal. And frankly, league statisticians have been less than charitable, it could easily be 6 or 7. I'm reasonably certain it's never happened in MLS that a team's leading scorer was Own Goal. I wonder if anyone knows if that's ever happened before in other leagues?
Just for the record, Mr. Goal did in fact end the season as leading scorer on the team. I think the odds are decent that's never happened before in any professional league.
