Some folks may not want to create an account to post on the blog post. Say your good-byes here. Jesse, thanks for a great place to talk soccer and everything else in the universe.
Indeed. As someone who has also been around from the early years, I know he'll be missed. He may not have been seen any in recent years, but what he did for American soccer is beyond words.
I certainly appreciate this site existing; besides getting to talk soccer (and some politics), I have made good friends here too - so Thank You, Huss.
I greet all change at BigSoccer with suspicion and dread. That, I suppose, is my way of saying I'm sorry to see you go, @Huss. Then again, perhaps we'll see you around as a poster. This is gonna turn into a old-timers thread, isn't it? For the newbies, if you don't know the history of BigSoccer and just how revolutionary and transformative this place was, then you might want to read this piece by Jason Davis. It's not the full story, but it's a pretty good take. I say this in all seriousness: without BigSoccer, MLS and American soccer in general would not be anything like what it is today. When we had nowhere else to go, we had this place. BigSoccer gave us a platform to organize, grow our fandom, and grow this game.
Will miss you a lot. I still remember the strange PM I received in the middle of the day several years back, totally unexpected as I was saying I was about to be blocked at work. That proxy saved my life...okay, not really, but was able to keep my addiction going. It is little things like that, and the April Fools message that we (yes, "we") were being bought by Carlos Slim. To me, that is what running this thing is about. Making sure the little people get noticed, and enjoy the ride. Jesse, you will be missed.
It already has. We wouldn't have acronyms like BSSM, B@W, BSMA (props to whoever knows this one), or stories like SoccerBabe or @TheSlipperyOne's story of Big Ed. We wouldn't have the official Swear Word Berg. We most certainly wouldn't have Brad Friedel...well, we would, but he'd probably just be another run-of-the-mill player. Did I tell you about the time Friedel and I went drinking?
That just reminded me of a time when I was in HS and we were having internet problems...during study hall, we could go to the computer lab and just slack off online. Anyway, the internet was down...except if you knew the IP address of the site you wanted to visit. You could type in XX.XXX.XX.XX and it would work. I was the only one in the lab that day.
All the best to you in your future endeavors. I've only been here a decade some I am a newb compared to most of you. Thank you for bringing us what to me has been a welcomed escape at times. Salud!
How the ******** did you become a moderator? Oh, nevermind. Wrong thread. That, in a nutshell, is the magic that Huss hath wrot.
Well, I have spent many many many hours at this place, and I thank you for giving me this outlet to talk soccer. And movies. And books. And politics. And Barcelona. Well, OK, not Barcelona, but you get the point. Many happy returns.
Might want to check out this article re the stolen preview images on your blog post. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...how-copyright-is-killing-your-favorite-memes/ $900 and an NDA... Thx, Jay!

Hey guys, sorry I missed this thread. I'm the new guy along with Janet, Jeff, another Andy and Jake. Janet works with the team, Jeff is a technical person/server admin, Jake is Jeff's sidekick and the other Andy is a designer. We are moving the site tomorrow. Once settled on our new hardware we will make a game plan for some software updates and enhancement.
