AA Gent is building a new stadium, the arteveldestadion. It will be seating 20.000 fans and will cost 100m euros. It will be taken in use in the 2006-2007 season. You can have a look at it here: http://www.kaagent.be/stadion/artevelde_fotos.php http://www.kaagent.be/stadion/artevelde_video.php
Me too. Especially 'de Gentse feesten' are worth a visit. All of the city in a party mood for ten days. Unseen.
Finally a Belgian team that invests in their venue. With the exception of Genk, Anderlecht, Brugge, Charleroi, Moeskroen and Lierse, hardly any Belgian team has done a serious investment to their infastructure in the past decade. That's one of the reasons that most games in the eerste klasse take place in run down old mausoleums instead of modern stadiums. With their new stadium, and the potential backing that is still largely untapped in that area (not counting the Lokeren fans), Gent could become a new Belgian soccer power.
I agree. They definitely have the potential to become a top club but it will take some years. When's your marriage?
Seats 20,000? Is that right? Sounds small. what is their current attendance? Very nice looking. I really need to get to Belgium soon.
20,000 it is. Current capacity is 12,919 but I don't know what the average attendance is. Well, if you want to see this stadium you better wait 2 more years.
Older stadiums do have great charm; I do like the look of the new design,of this stadium. The small, intimate, fun Pubs, around the stadiums, that I stop in before & after the game,is very important to me.
