Oh man. VT got jobbed. Tremendous effort by the Hokies--they never gave up!

Wow. Reeves hits 2 great shots off the post and bar = nothing. FSU hits a bad cross, off the post, off the back of Colpitts = game-winner. Wasn't meant to be.

It just wasn't her night. But she didn't play badly at all! The post was in her way. :/ Sorry, not seeing the hype in the team that won.

Did Chugger insult the ref's family before the match?

I ain't buying that stat either. But remember, there were more than a handful of calls that weren't called against FSU, hence the final number. ;)

Ha, right! Apparently at halftime he really gave it to the ref for refusing to call fouls that the ARs flagged twice (though I only saw one). And then again after the game. Hopefully the Hokies lock him up, though I wouldn't be surprised if they let him get away.

..and then some, I suppose. The call that lead to the first FSU goal was "questionable" at best. Oh well, VT tried and almost pulled it off. Hats off to them. Really impressed with their continued fight, despite the shady officiating.

Virginia Tech outplayed FSU in that match, but FSU got all the breaks.

Yep. In the first 2 games between VT & FSU, I thought FSU was the better team and deserved the Ws. Tonight I really think VT was the better side.

Krikorian's teams always seem to fizz out in the College Cup (i.e. they don't always play their best soccer there).
The winner of Virginia vs. UCLA will be your National Champion.

    Krikorian got lucky today.

What's with this stupid college football show in between games? I love NCAAF, but c'mon, talk soccer! On that note, if Megan Campbell and Jameis Winston every made a baby, it would have the strongest arms ever.

I just realized that Reeves is a senior. :( Dang, I thought she was a junior. Tough way for the kid to go out. Hope she gets a chance at the international stage.

That was weird... I felt like the Center was constitutionally incapable of calling fouls on FSU. As neutral, it did not look neutral. ANyway, that was a very entertaining game. No head hanging called for.

[UCLA-UVA] semi #2, stream link posted in the other thread

08' 0-0 UVa had pressure in UCLA's box, but straight-up defense forced one speculative cross too many.

11' 0-0 To and fro in midfield.
12' 0-0 Mewis gets a pass off at circle right, then fouled from behind.

13' 0-0 UCLA fk at midfield circle right ... bounces at box top, down to endline mid-left. UCLA half-bikes to keep it in, Jenkins comes across to collect, wins a throw-in.
14' 0-0 UVa win that, clearance blocked, over endline.

Whole lotta wvb rounds 1 & 2 being streamed tonight, too.

15' 0-0 UCLA quacks a backpass to own 12m box right, Rowland comes so far out that she must use feet. UVa gather at box top wide left, cross high to 8m center. Rowland + 1 UVa jump and collide, ball pops loose and drops at the spot as three players fall prone. UVa first to knees, pokes ball back to Brian at box top arc right. One-time shot sails over bar.

18' 0-0 UVA right throw-in from behind midfield. UVA switch left, but RB Courtnall wins a 1-v-1 and runs up box right to midfield. Bad pass intercepted, UVa hoofs long toward box top left, offside.

19' 0-0 UCLA backline pings around.

20' 0-0 UVA left throw-in at own box top. They advance by hoofing high toward circle back, UCLA heads first but Brian collects.

21' 0-0 UVA cross from box left, knock-down backpass to box top center. Fake a shot, diagonal pass down to 6-right mid-right rolls too far. UVa chases, keeps it in, but Dydasco wins it. UCLA coach Cromwell is bizarrely miked up with a headset in the run of play for a quick 20 second interview. Must be a College Cup thing ...

23' 0-0 UCLA backline, hoof long to Lavrusky 1-v-1 at box top left. Her square pass intercepted, but UCLA's back line regather.

24' 0-0 UCLA hoof long up box left again. This time ball bounces through for LB Dydasco overlapping down to endline. Cross slide-blocked over.

24' 0-0 UCLA left corner, curls over mouth to 6-top right post. UVa heads it across and over.
25' 0-0 UCLA right corner, to 6-top right post, headed out thru box top. UCLA low shot, shanked way wide right.

26' 0-0 UCLA backline switch twice, then hoof long to Jenkins cruising past box top right. Evidently this is UCLA's game plan to win field position. Jenkins' cross blocked over, so it seems to be working.

27' 0-0 UCLA right corner, shot wide? UCLA are gradually getting a great deal of possession, as UVa's midfield doesn't press tightly. Touch comparison graphic: Mewis 5, Brian 23.

28' 0-0 UCLA squares to Jenkins at box top center. Hard shot blocked back, UCLA taps wide to box right. Cross shanked 10m up and arcs backward over endline.

29' 0-0 UCLA right corner, cleared. Doniak beats a player at her own box top going north, sprints to circle back. Passes diagonally left toward 25m wide left. Courtnall overtakes the LF from 5m behind to 1m ahead, backshields ball and takes it. UCLA hoofs long up wide right, Jenkins(?) shows more ridiculous pace-advantage, going from 1m behind at 20m to 2m ahead at endline -- but doesn't catch up.

In the "LiveStream / Archived Webcast links" thread:
30' 0-0 UCLA fouled above box top mid-left. Dahlkemper fk, high.
32' 0-0 UVa to Brian dribbling to box top arc right. She slips on a cutback, falls flat on the ball -- no call for handling, UCLA dribble it out.

34' 0-0 UVa bounce a ball to 5m left touch. LB #13 Menchel hacky-sacks it back into the field, duels RB #42 Courtnall at endline wide left. Menchel sit-down slide-tackles Courtnall, foul.

36' 0-0 UVa lose a ball at midfield left, UCLA lets it bounce back to box top center. UVa consistently don't chase-and-pressure the long pings, just let UCLA's back line bring it out. UVa prefers to defend and build their own possessions? This does leave UCLA with a great deal of ball-choice.

38' 0-0 UCLA hoofs from circle back to box top left, 1-v-1. Finally UCLA loses it. Brian leads a breakout up centerline to midfield, with wingmen on both sides. Pass (or run?) to box top wide left, but Courtnall wins another 1-v-1 duel stone cold, leaves a Hoo on the ground.

39' 0-0 UCLA backline pings around under no pressure, as UVa lurks 5m off. That's actually closer than they've been. UCLA to Mewis in circle back, she gets swarmed 1-v-3 there, backpass.
