Played 90 today for a 3-1 defeat away at Sundsvall. A draw and a loss must be one of the worst starts to a season by Malmö, if my memory serves me right (it often doesn't, curse old age).

He was very active, at least when I was watching, but the guy marking him was doing a good job.

It's becoming like the Amon situation: getting inexplicably benched after doing well, or at least as well as the competition. Let's hope it's temporary only.

Talked to a guy on Reddit that follows Malmo a lot, who often has insight on how the team is operating. I asked him why Rosler has not been using Gall all that much this campaign. This is what he had to say.

"I just think that at the moment Rosler doesn't really need another offensive midfielder. His main competitor at the position of central attacking force of a inner midfield 3 in an 3 5 2 formation (Traustason) is performing really well at the moment and I think Gall's main problem is that he lacks versatility in regards to which positions he's able to play. He's not really interchangeable with anyone else than Traustason in the current formation, and he's an experience well tested player with an ability to consitently break down a lesser team over 90 minutes. Hopefull Gall will get some more playing time when the qualifiers for the Europa league starts!"

I am not a big advocate for forcing your way out for more play time but if this is indeed true, I don't see him being in favor down the line. If we knew that this was going to be his fate, we'd rather him stayed at Sundsvall rather than going to Malmo and not be used.

    Last Season:

    Gall: 13G/6A in 1924' = 1 goal in 148', 1 assist in 321'

    Traustason: 4G/5A in 1456' = 1 goal in 364', 1 assist in 291'.

Yet this season, Traustason is the starter, while Gall only gets 117' total in the first six league games. And he starts the season benched already.

And it's not like the Icelander has more upside, he's 26 already.

I know goals and assists are not the complete story. But Gall looked _good_, he was part of most attacks, he was always creating trouble and pulling defenders to make a good pass.

I don't get the sudden demotion. If I were him, I'd be pissed.

I understand the club is getting results but it's crazy his minutes are so limited. He has 1.5 seasons of good work in Sweden. If push comes to shove he should be able to get a decent MLS contract.

Wasn't able to catch the match but it seems Romain was pressing to make an impact on the pitch when came on in the 65'

Tweet translates to: Romain Gall has taken more shots in 20 minutes than what all players in the Allsvenskan have done throughout the series (season)...

The only reasons I can think for Romain's benching is that he kicked Rösler's dog or was trying to bang his daughter.

Or even worse, maybe he kicked Rosler's daughter and was trying to bang his dog. That'll get you in the coach's doghouse, no pun intended.
