He would have met the continuous residency requirement had he not left for the Emirates. I’m not sure why he used an interpreter for most interviews with Kashima but he certainly would be fluent enough to become a citizen.

Imagine what if Japan is drawn with Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador in the same group! It will be definitely group of death.
For a realistic chance to advance to the 2nd round, i'd rather have: Uruguay Bolivia Japan Peru Good luck.
I actually don't. CONMEBOL is ludacris, a living joke to have their continental competition with invitations.
That's ridiculous, I went to a Copa América Centenario match in California and the atmosphere was great. It's good to have competitive intercontinental matches other than the WC.
I agree. You can organize friendly tournaments if you want intercontinental games, but keep the continental tournaments intact.
Continental competitions are like this because there's no sense in mixing. Copa América should come back to their pre-1991 formula.
Does anybody have any clue as to when players will report themselves to the UAE for the mini-training camp?
0 as usual. They are still in Japan while Korea, Australa, Iran and Saudi have already played friendlies in UAE. Yoshida and Muto haven't even joind the squad yet because of club commitment in England. The JFA's arrogance could cost Japan the Cup. This moron (the previous JFA president) says Japan has an 80 percent chance to win. https://www.hochi.co.jp/soccer/japan/20181223-OHT1T50084.html Our all-time winning percentage is only 50% (4/8), though.
Realistically there are very few to no quality opponents available to play at the moment, and the squad established good chemistry through the fall friendlies. Maybe it’s better to manage their physical condition?
