As of this 10-11 season, 4-4-2 with Drogba and Torres was not gonna work out without a winger. Also, although they both have different talents and attributes, they play in the similar space and they would constantly clash.

I am not so sure Torres was the right person to rebuild. On the defensive end, Chelsea made huge leaps in obtaining David Luiz.

Torres worse than Shevchenko transfer? Torres needs some time to integrate into the team and needs a proper winger to be serviced. It was not gonna happen with someone like Anelka as a proper partnership, nor would Drogba worked out with him as well. In addition, I never thought Torres was comfortable with 433 formation, and flourished under 4231, with Torres as the forward and Lampard behind him.
