Lastly, its a given kids have to be working on their own to get touches and fitness but in my opinion its a shame at how much these club coaches are NOT doing.
Anyway, hope that helps. Oh, and we are doing Super Y soccer this summer. Its relatively inexpensive for 8 weeks of training and 8-10 games. Best bargain IMO!

As much as I hate to pay $$$ on top of club dues, I felt it necessary for my kid as a late starter. We tend to do a 3 session cluster at start of season and then only when needed. Kind of a treat for my kid. I always ask the coach to incorporate drills that we can perform on our own. Can't say I always see the work transfer to games but Im hoping its like watering a seed... nothing...nothing... then pop!

We have experience with Tony Kees cuz we're at Sockers. He led a fall preseason camp with our kids last Fall and the kids responded very well. He spends time doing non soccer team building drills and the kids really get into it and it makes a difference. I cant comment on how he would be as a personal coach or what time he would have available since hes pretty bust with Sockers.

Second guy we currently work with is maybe 23, played D1 soccer at Loyola, lives close and helps that he's a forward like my son. He's very open to my suggestions, has developed a personal interest in my kid and we talk to him a lot now besides sessions.

We've worked with two guys from Coachup. The first really wanted to spend a lot of time on very basic movements, balance, fitness. While I understand a foundation is important this just wasnt going to work. And besides that, the guy sort of disappeared for several months... I think his wife had a baby and he was laso trying to figure out a way to make the personal coaching full time.

hey, thought it best to take this offline. Registas last paragraph of his most recent post I think is spot on. My son is U15, didnt start til he was 12. Very athletic and passionate, has good instincts but needs to learn position specific skills that you dont get at practice.
