Okay, jumping the gun a bit - but it does start on Saturday. I'm excited enough that I'm actually looking forward to being out in the cold and wet for the home opener, despite my previous whining. unlike previous campaigns, I am eagerly awaiting the start of this season. Bruce Arena et.al. have rekindled my interest in this team. Let's Go!
It feels like so much has changed in the off-season, for so many teams, the coming season is going to be very hard to predict.
This is the first year in about a decade where we can start the season with one confident prediction: This season the Revs will be genuinely interesting.
Anyone know if they are selling tickets for the Portland tourney? I know you can buy seats to the games the timbers play in, but I havent found anything on the other 2 games the Revs will feature in
The last time we started a pre-season with this much hope was 2015, Jermaine Jones' first full season. Of course, that hope was tempered by the losses of Shalrie Joseph and AJ Soares, who were replaced by Zach Herivaux and London Woodberry.
Yeah... so he wasn't really a loss? I get that you're trying to make a point, but AJ Soares was the real loss that offseason and was never replaced.
Especially since they didn't even see it coming--a solid player, out of contract who wasn't making a lot of money, who also had an EU passport. What are the odds a guy like that could get a much better deal overseas?
Joseph was [sadly] past it when they traded him, and Soares was no great shakes - but no excuse for not having a decent center back to replace him. WRT Soares, you never know what happens in contract discussions - I think it's very possible that the Revs were led to believe he wanted to return, we'll just never know.
Speaking of Shalrie, so good to see this. 1219651574533967873 is not a valid tweet id The mere presence of @ShalrieJoseph21 on the pitch with the @NERevolution is fantastic. His talent coupled with his genuine spirit is priceless https://t.co/FHmmSAQUkq— Susan Siegel (@SusanSiegel86) January 22, 2020

Strange to see that some of the teams are already playing games when it seems like we are just getting all the guys together for the first few days of camp. I know the teams playing in the CCL need to get going earlier, but are the Red Bulls in the CCL? I didn't think being the "Champions of New Jersey" was enough to qualify, but what do I know?
Yes, I noticed that. Looking at the pre-season match schedule (which appears incomplete), the Revs and Galaxy are the last 2 teams to kick a ball in anger when they face each other on Feb 10th.
Bruce Arena: No doubt US men's national team will qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup January 28, 2020 11:04AM EST Jonathan Sigal
I thought we were hosting the 2026 World Cup? Yeah, it's all because of the new format. 6 teams for 4 slots. It would be even more pathetic to miss it this time around. IMHO I think the national team is run as poorly as the Revs were before May 14, 2019.
I ran into Shalrie (amongst many) when I went into the Revs offices last Friday. It was such a joy to see him back here. He came up and said "Hi" and we talked for a few minutes. Glad to see him back, along with CT and some others. I know it's early on, but with talking to quite a few players, and seeing their interactions, they genuinely like each other. Also, if any of you are also 25 year STH (@rkupp) and you get a call about going down there, do it. You'll thank me later.
Revs get honorable mention, which puts them in the top 10. Here's which MLS teams are winning the offseason (so far) January 29, 2020 11:24AM EST Andrew Wiebe All former Revs...
