The ambivalence in this post has me confused tbh. And the claim he might have been PSG's best player over both legs when he played just 35-40min total over the course of the tie is a bold one also imo. He's a prick in what sense? If he's a potentially bad seed or influence on the team, not sure it's worth the hassle, unless it's for a dominant player (which Parades isn't). After all, it's not like there aren't options out there for the holding role. And no, Rice is no longer one of them, as far as I'm concerned. Definitely was interested in him last season, but as stated recently, it's worrisome that he hasn't kicked on. And as a matter of fact has even regressed by the looks of it. Another player not worth it, particularly in light of his price, which is sure to be very high...
He's an 8/6. He can do a lot of things well. He just has a reputation for being a disrespectful, confrontational person. He is Argentine. [emoji2377] I think a loan makes sense. We are desperate for help in midfield. As desperate as it gets.
Given our situation, would be fine with taking him on loan. As suggested, we really are desperate. Plus a loan gives us an opportunity to assess him, see what he's got and what he can potentially bring to the team. It's virtually no risk as opposed to buying him outright.
I just think we wont see eye to eye on Paredes ability. Paredes not being able to make himself a regular starter isnt really that bad in the grand scheme of things. Verratti is his competitor for a role. Considering how long Verratti has been there and how good he is, I cant say its a big deal that Paredes couldnt claim a starting spot. During Copa America he showed his value. In his time on the pitch against us. He had a big impact imo.
Club have apparently briefed the media on Ed's Paris trip to avoid speculation; Maybe trying to get sponsorship for our Mickey Mouse club from Disney?
Its January ************************. Start focusing on the priorities which is getting us a midfield. Ffs he’s useless.
I've been trying not to get sucked into the transfer muppetry. I don't think Bruno's game will translate perfectly to the prem. The standard of play is different obviously and the space available is FOR SURE going to be an issue. HOWEVER... the one thing I completely ignored w/ Bruno is that even whilst he's giving the ball away a shit ton, like AdM and Sanchez (two players who didn't make it at United) he's still a focal point and a high volume creator. We haven't had that in a central position since Rooney who tbf was also quite wasteful on the ball. The issue with Rooney's wastefulness is he did it when we had players better suited to play the passes he was attempting and his giveaways hurt us because we were trying to control games with possession and we didn't have any sort of press/counter press. I can definitely put my hand up and say I was shortsighted on Bruno. I'd be intrigued to see what he can do ahead of a pair of athletic CMs with our current group of attackers. Obviously there's no guarantee, but if he were to come, I know people have been suggesting a diamond, I think we might try that, but I feel like we're more likely to see a situation where we play with a nominal 4231 and a 'winger' that works very hard. The major flaws in James game get somewhat nullified if we have someone who can release him in space and if he's 2nd phase of the counter as opposed to the 1st phase, god have mercy on the soul of whomever is tasked with keeping track of him. Like this in possession: ----------------------------Tony Rashy-----------------Bruno-------------James ----------------Pogba------------Fred Like this when defending: ----------------------------Tony -------------------<<<<Bruno>>>> Rash------------------------------------------James -------------Pogba-----------------Fred This suits Rashford and James fine, they both are high defensive output wingers. This also means that Tony is not isolated and it basically would ask for Bruno to play the Jesse role in providing support and supporting runs. He's also able to drop back into midfield in build up allowing James and Rashford to break forward and support Martial. If we want to be a little more solid, then AP to the right is an option w/ Bruno defending the left back and AP playing as the pressing midfielder.
As someone who watches Bruno Fernandes a lot, the assesment Woodward/Ole made about his passing being bad is pretty true. He loses possession a lot and makes many braindead errors. 60 million is quite a lot to pay for a player espeically with how much you have recently spent on players like Sanchez. He will probaly look good for you in home games against bottom 10 teams, but when the going gets tough he doesnt do much and is very tactically inept on the defensive side
I have some doubts also, the standard of keepers and defenders in the EPL would reduce his output significantly for sure. However he would still be a big upgrade on what we have. Would start him at #10 for a while to get used to pace of league and teammates. Then when Pogs / McT available would go to a 3 man mid. Just having a player who can take corners and can shoot relatively reliably from zone 14 would be a big step forward for us
Dunno much about him other than he is supposedly a #6 - so if true hopefully means club are finally waking up to addressing one of our greatest needs imo. Apparently went to A Madrid to replace Rodri and has been disappointing in few games he has had - hence may be available for loan. #mufc are attempting to sign a midfielder on loan until the end of the season. The club is focusing on the European market rather than British options. Atletico Madrid's Marcos Llorente has been identified as an ideal option by club scouts #mulive [men]— utdreport (@utdreport) January 15, 2020
How would Fernandes fit at United. https://www.skysports.com/football/...ssed-amid-transfer-talks-with-sporting-lisbon
@johno - exactly. I know I've said it before but Bruno's pass completion stats aren't even bad, for someone fulfilling his role. This season he's on around 77% in Liga NOS, on par with AP on 77% and Scott McTominay on 78%. But he's got volume that would make Tatith Chong's hair stylist wake up in cold sweats. I'm not saying he's nailed on to succeed if he comes but ******** me if end product and attempting to create through high risk passing / crossing isn't exactly what we should be trying to pick up for that 10 spot.
All Bruno news has dried up. No surprise. Even when the selling club and agent offer us a player with no real competition and a price we can easily afford, Ed manages to ******** it up.
Not surprising that Sporting are looking to have Fernandes available for their game vs Benfica. Only one of the biggest games in their domestic season, plus could be an ideal send off for him. There is a risk obviously attached to it, but it is what it is... The idea of Fernandes playing vs Wolves or even Pool were always kind of farfetched to be honest. Even if the deal was completed in the next couple of days, it still would have been a longshot at best. Not to mention also that the day we'll see United completing a deal speedily under Woodward and Judge will probably be a first. James is the one that stands out in that regard, in the fact that it was pretty swift. But most of them have taken time and it's just the unfortunate reality with them. This is not summer, so the window is much more finite but I don't expect anything to happen here before the middle of next week, at the earliest. If the reports of Mendes being brought in to help complete the deal prove true, that would actually be good news I think, as he should keep things moving to get it done.
Bruno Fernandes will play in the Lisbon derby and then leave for #mufc. The transfer will happen #mulive [tvi24, @olhaoquete2igo]— utdreport (@utdreport) January 15, 2020 1217493785950793736 is not a valid tweet id
That guy literally has 12 tweets, I don’t think he knows shit, he’s just repeating the most obvious outcome.
I don't know that the sources are any good, but you have to put it into the proper context. That match is the equivalent of Spurs/Arsenal or United/Citeh. Given that he's their best player and they are considering selling him at all, much less in the winter when they won't get a replacement when he's their absolute everything, it does kinda make sense that they'd want him for their big game. I know if he gets injured and that scuppers the move it will be seen as a disaster but nobody really thinks clearly when a derby is around the corner.
Disagree. I think Sporting are much more concerned about getting the transfer fee for Bruno then they are of him playing in one more match, even if that is a derby. And I’m sure the player doesn’t want to risk injury and ruin the move so he won’t be giving his all with that in the back of his head. Just seems like a story for the papers to throw out because they previously said the deal would be done by now.
Its not the papers, it says the source in the tweets - is tvi24 ie Porguguese tv and associates. All the sources are crappy sources, with this deal so far. Especially all the ones from Portugal Bruno trolling? People trying to read a lot into this; 👀 pic.twitter.com/AiR0smbCq0— Bruno Fernandes (@B_Fernandes8) January 15, 2020
