ngl, monochrome on white, that blue looks like Orlando FC purple. somehow all the jokes we made last year about becoming Sporting Club FC Chicago United or whatever came true. We're now a random pastiche of unrelated words and colors.
Hell, if they kept some semblance of a hoop with this new logo I'd be semi-okay with it, too. I'm not saying they should just rip off Boca Jrs whole look, but I mean, they could probably put something aesthetically pleasing together that at least hints at the team's history of having a hoop across the front by doing something like that. As it stands, we'd be one of the blandest teams in an increasingly bland league with these kits (just gonna assume the shorts will be the same color because MLS).
This kit design was actually made by the agency that designed the crest. I was told today that while MLS clubs love to submit detailed mock ups to Adidas, Adidas basically always does whatever the hell they feel like anyways and ignore the mock ups.
Maybe they'll ignore the logo too? I hope so, but that needs to be the new look, not a half-ass stop gap for an already poorly executed rebrand. Appreciate the inside info TR!
If we end up with it(which I think we do), it's because Adidas went with the original info on the kit. I do hope they change the colors on the logo for that kit at the absolute minimum.
I've heard this too, though more along the lines of not putting in a lot of effort to get it right compared to what the teams request. Seattle's weird pink striped side panel last season was supposed to be a gradient pattern, potentially multi-colored to look like a sunset, but adidas said "meh, close enough." The "camo" thing they had on the home jersey the last two seaons was supposed to be a "carbon fiber" pattern whatever the hell that means.
Though if it is indeed the case that they'd be rolling out an old design kit for next season, the new Boca kit looks pretty sweet, and it's I think on the Condivo 20 template that all the other MLS teams are using, so just swap the colors and add that shoulder strip thing.
right, neither of these tops are using the new adidas template with the big stripes on the shoulder that all the other teams are using. they wouldn't have two kits with old templates. they would have one with the new one and one with the old one (see minn united's expansion year kits).
It's gonna be so hilarious if they try to Frankenstein a red kit with the rebrand. Like, all of the defenses will have been for nothing, it was dead before it was even tweeted out.
Well Tyrus said that this was from the design team and not from adidas themselves, which seems to fit with my questions about what they were. Interestingly it was Sandalow (or one of the other regular beat writers, I forget which) who said that "Ivory and flag blue" would be "alternate colors" for the team, so it sounds like the team has something in mind with the away jersey in mind, the question is what and when.
If they wanted a short turnaround, you could make something nice on miTeam's stock '18 template (interestingly, Cinci used the '17 template for theirs last year). But as we all get into in the other thread, the issue is logistics for adidas to do it late on a large scale and if they'd allow it. I made this up a while back just using the stock templates. I don't think you could do an off-white or ivory color (or even a light blue) unless it was a special order.

Give me Fire! Hide that sick emblem in roiling flaming firey reds and oranges! Alas we cannot have the Red Stars actual jersey so make it Fire! Put the red stars on the collar but give me something that looks like demons coming from Hell after the enemy!
