My post is not related to the Joeey's one in particular but was a general statement.
Just rememberd that wembley tickets so far were not very difficult to get but i am pretty sure they will be difficult from now on because of the premiere league failure this year

I don't want to sound confrontational but really don't see the relevance at all between the two. For many the Premier League is not everything and indeed far from it. A lot of England fans will be from the EFL.

In general you get few fans of the bigger Premier League clubs at England matches. The opportunity and expense to travel Europe with your club team must be a factor. As well as seeing the best players during the season.

However, there will be an uptick in interest when the media starts focusing on the Euros. There has been very little hype about them yet. Apparently the London New Year fireworks made a big deal of the final being at Wembley. I don't think there was a great deal of awareness of tickets being on sale in the first phase. That will change when we get closer. Some people don't plan in advance to the extent that regulars here do.

Very much like the Cricket WC and the build up was none existent and I think many did not even know it was on until we won it. Thank goodness the Indians were so up for it otherwise it would have been in half empty stadiums.

Tickets for the Cricket World Cup were very hard to come by in the initial ballot, anecdotally in any case. I know several people who applied but got nothing. However, the process for that seemed bent with the number of tickets going to Indians for any venue where they might play. Many then went unused if India weren't there as resale was poorly organised.

Hype for the Euros will start soon and will be everywhere by the time the tournament starts. It will feel really strange with it being so spread across Europe. A thought that just occurred to me is that it will make sense for supporters of teams in the Wembley and Hampden group to base themselves in Glasgow as they'll be playing two matches there and one at Wembley. They'll have a lot more tickets for Wembley but London might not truly feel like a host city until the final stages. The visiting support will be lost in the vastness. Especially if you only have the supporters of one team at a time in town. Croatia will be in London for a match and then travel to Glasgow. Czech Republic play twice in Glasgow and then travel down.

It will also be interesting to see how the fan parks do. I'm assuming there will be some but haven't heard anything about any. Just thinking of London I guess all the Croatians and Czechs who will want to travel will be able to get tickets. Obviously there will be people from all over coming to Wembley matches and there are people from all over Europe who live here. Just seems likely that the dispersed nature of the tournament will mean that major cities are not as taken over by the event as they would be for a normal tournament. Over 200,000 attend matches in London most weekends during the season, depending on which teams are at home. 90,000 at Wembley isn't a big deal in a city with a population 100 times that.

RE your remark about basing in Glasgow. Prices for accommodation will shoot up so instead base yourself in Edinburgh. Nicer place and accommodation will be cheaper. Its a very easy and quick commute.

That is what I would do. Plenty of accommodation in Edinburgh due to the Festival and Hogmanay. A great city but I bet it is overcrowded all year round now as all tourists cities seem to be.

my home town and although it does get busy there is plenty of accommodation. Also look our for deals promotions from the big chains and you will get something nice for a great price. :)
Im going to games in London and intend doing similar there. Book out of town and commute.

It is too late to downgrade the cat 1 at this stage. Unless you mean I should switch tickets with someone who already bought final tickets cat2 for example, it is hard to find someone who wish to release final tickets I assume.

    General questions:

Is there any possibility to buy final tickets through the portal in the final week of the tournament?

I noticed another thread related to tickets exchange, when do you think is best time to offer this exchange proposal? (cat 1 semi vs cat 2 final, same price)

Yes you will be able to buy tickets thru the portal right up to the Semi Final stage. People who have tickets following a particular team will possibly put there tickets on the portal once their team is eliminated. Others for other reasons. Other tickets will be returned by sponsors and from countries. You will have to be vigilant tho.
An exchange thread will be posted on the Forums in fact I think it is up already. There is no official place to exchange.

I spent more time than was healthy downgrading my 2016 tickets. Eg scouring the portal for Cat 3 Turkey v Croatia and then offloading my cat 1. I very nearly got stuck with it though as I wrongly assumed I'd find an Irish fan in Paris who would want to go. We were playing Sweden the followingn night in Paris but most weren't bothered attending as a neutral.

So you could try the portal for cheaper categories for the semis and then try to offload your cat 1s. Be careful as the last 2 finals and 4 semis were all readily available and almost imposible to offload at face value in higher cats.

Now an England game will have insane demand but Spain v France would be a really tough sell.

Although you might be right Popularside ( and probably will be) Im thinking Semis and final this year will be very popular because its Wembley. Obviously if England get to the Semi that game will be impossible to get tickets for, same for the final.
Earlier round games up to Semis should be easy enough to get. Dublin last 16 probably England will be a tough one.

I reckon the earlier games will be tough and as you say the Rof16 in Dublin if it is England.

The problem with th semis is the cost. The vast majority of the tickets are cat 1 or cat 2. These are very expensive for neutrals. Time will tell.

Agree re loads of rich people but a Spain v France midweek semi final in Wembley? Obviously if England get to the SF/Final it will be totally insane.

I think next week but some think the following week.

Agree to an extent but these sort of people who are happy to pay big bucks want to be seen at the Final not the Semis especially when it is Ukraine v Turkey and not England. (No disrespect to either).
