Who are these Revs??? Don't know anything about Camara and very little about Ligue 2. He certainly fills a need. Will he replace Delemea, Farrell or Mancienne as a starter? Hopefully he is good enough to do that. The fact that this Revs regime is bringing in players before the start of camp and not March tells me that these guys in the FO are playing at a higher level than Burns and with 3 DP's Kraft has upped his commitment to the team. We just need to take a wait and see approach on this guy and Buksa and hope that Bruce and his scouting department did their homework and got it right

It just makes you ponder what a typical work day looked like for Mike Burns during his time here?

Someone, paraphrasing Arena, said he wants to create competition everywhere on the roster. Lots of coaches (including our previous two) have said similar things - but Arena appears to be doing it.

We don't know yet how good these acquisitions will be - this time of year they seem full of promise, yet we've seen other seasons where it still ends up being the same starters virtually every game. It would be good to have a rotation of quality players at most positions. We'll see.

Much like Belichick and The Patriot Way, Arena seems to be doing a really nice job at leveraging his previous success. Would any really persuasive GM have been able to convince Buksas to, not only give MLS a try, but to do it here - without having the caché that Arena brings? I doubt it.

We have to be encouraged. Arena is actually signing people and we should be getting better as a result. I dont think he would sign anybody if he didnt think they could help. I dont know this guy but time will tell if he can adapt to the travel and the damn turf

On other changes - While im sorry to see Juan go, I can't defend keeping him based on the last few years. I dont know what happened to him but he just wasn't producing. I hope he likes playing Bradley, I wouldnt. I still wish "he who shall not be named" was here. I wonder if he had not demanded to be traded, would he have been happier on what is happening now? Of course, nobody saw both BF and MB being canned when they were and even after BF was canned, it took Arena to get Burns out of there. Had that not happened, it would have been the same old thing, with a new coach and no players

I imagine all of the frustration and annoyance caused by Michael Scott without any of the fun.

I hadn't made the connection earlier, but Camara played for Bob Bradley at Le Havre, so that's obviously where the recommendation must have come from.

Bent Musket has a scouting report on him, which isn't generally too positive. They make him sound like a depth piece at best - maybe a similar level to Anibaba?

Actually another factor may have been that at one of his clubs in Poland, he was coached by Peter Nowak. So, if he wanted to know about MLS, he had a nearby source.

Players from Ligue 2 have not faired well in MLS, so I have pretty low expectations for his contribution. It seems like an odd move to waste an international spot (and TAM?) on a depth piece, but in Bruce we trust.

CB is one of those positions where it really pays to have experience.

The team currently has no HG CB, and hasn't got any CB prospects in the pipeline. What's more, there aren't an abundance of CB out of contract domestically that would be easily poached.

So any added CB were probably going to come from abroad, and Camara happens to be someone Bruce feels like he has positive info on.

I dunno. if we're not going to shell for a DP CB, then we're looking for a steal off the bargain rack. It's not like the days when he would have been our big signing.

I know these ratings are subjective and just throwing this out there but FWIW FIFA 2020 gives Camara a 67 rating and Anibaba a 68. Alex Buttner is no where to be found on Fifa 2020 however he was rated as a 73 in 2019. Buksa is a 68, same as Bunbury

I don't think any longtime fan of the Revs can see the words "French" and "defender" in the same sentence and not repress a shudder.

However... "Samba Camara" has to be one of the best Revs names ever. That's worth a roster spot, surely.

All I keep thinking of is that comedian whose entire shtick was mimicking his mother... "You're acting like a crazy person.... It's not riiiight... Dancing the samba all night long, what's wrong with you?!" Anyone know who I'm referring to?

I can see his face and hear his voice, I just can’t remember his name. Something Irish?

"We couldn't wear tight pants growing up. 'You're not wearing those tight pants out, mister. Put your big pants on. Going outside with tight pants on. We're big pant people. Get upstairs to your room and put your big pants on! The Loobermans are coming over and you're wearing tight pants. It doesn't make sense! Your father doesn't wear tight pants. Your brothers don't wear tight...' Stop it, I can't take it!'"

    So that didn't last. https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/post/2020/01/20/samba-camara-s-contract-voided

Pure speculation, but I am guessing maybe this (From the Bent Musket scouting report) may have had something to do with the denial:
TBM: Camara spent some time in prison. Can you tell us about that?

LG: It was April 2015, from my memories. At this time, he could’ve signed his first professional contract.

He was only a small hand, in a small affair, but he could not avoid prison (a short time), then the wearing of an electronic bracelet. But Johann Louvel, who was the director of the training center (coach of HAC B), trusted him to reintegrate him in the summer of 2015.
