Based on what you’re saying, if I had to guess, the call up last month was tactical so that England would not be able to get to him if they so desired...

It was not an official match so technically he can still play for England.

Yea don’t think England is fighting us for him

think Poveda and Salcedo are more the players that the European teams were fighting us over and we didn’t put much of a fight. Reyes just went you aren’t Colombian because you don’t eat mondongo so go fk yourselfs!!!

Are you sure? I always thought that if you are called up to a NT on a FIFA date (friendly, WCQ, CA), your bound to that team. Interesting.

You have to play in an official match at the Senior Level.

In the Youth Level if you play in an official match you can still get a one time switch if you apply for it and you were eligible for that other Coutry before you played in the Youth Tournament.

Yeah he's still technically not tied to us, but bringing a player in and getting him in the system surely helps to recruit a player. I don't think at this point he's close to England, I hate to say it but England right now might have the best crop of young players coming through in the world, out of nowhere over the last few years they started dominating youth competitions. I think it was a hey this guy looks really promising and has risen really fast and is the exact type of player and position we need so lets get him in an have a look and get him into the fold. I think he's shown some really good skill and versatility for a guy who's risen so fast, a guy like him could be really really good in two years if he can continue learning and improving. Agudelo for me is a bit more interesting right now and has probably a higher ceiling, I think Colombia should be looking to mold him as an 8 to play asap but I think they both have a future with us that potentially could be very bright and they are in good teams that seem to be playing the right way which should really help them develop.

    Alzate Vs. Davinson today.

According to Google they may literally be playing against each other. It seems like they have Alzate playing as a forward which is quite odd. Maybe he will drift out to the wing?

Looks like he's ended up mainly in a double pivot in a 3-4-2-1 but seems to have the freedom to get forward if he sees the chance with Mooy and Gross able to drop in and switch off.

Had one nice move where he faked a shot and cut in but the ensuing shot was wide.

He's so good under pressure, he never loses the ball and just kind of glides through pressure wherever he gets on the ball. For a young player he's super calm and you can see why his coach trusts him in so many positions every week.

Carlos Queiroz was with Steven Alzate today for some reason.

Wonder how that conversation went down?

So, you have not played much in a while...

Not called up for the match today.

This kid is talented, hopefully next season we can see more playing time. I would like him to double his minutes next season. Also it would be nice to see him play defensive mid role rather than creative mid.

He gave away a REALLY poor ball that wound up in a Chelsea penalty.

Overall I thought he was good, he's good on the ball and can defend well and still has a lot of room to grow but clearly the coach trusts him a lot already. Brighton try to play the right way and basically controlled the game for an hour against Chelsea, I think Alzate will keep getting better but he's already got so much patience and ability in midfield on the ball that he should be given a look for us as depth for CM.

Played a full 90. Very decent match against Newcastle and kept the midfield moving. He can only improve from here. Some of the fans already foreshadowing English fans are going to be gutted Alzate choosing Colombia over them.
