Hopefully Lovren is not injured and can play. If not, Gomez comes in. The rest of the back line picks itself.

In midfield, I think Gini and Henderson definitely both start. Normally I would expect him to pick Milner, but Milner played both Wednesday and Saturday. He would have rested him in one of those if he planned to use him for this one. The third midfield spot could be Ox, Lallana, or Keita.

There shouldn’t be any surprises up front.

A draw gets us through, but I don’t think playing for a draw is a thing. Salzburg will turn this into an insane game, and the only way to get through is to punish their ambition with goals at the other end. Let’s do the stuff that got us a 3-0 lead at Anfield and not do the stuff that let them come back to make it 3-3.

This is a massive game, and I can’t wait for it to be over with. We are all flying high at the moment, but a bad result here would put a major damper on what has been a near perfect season. Salzburg are very dangerous and this is the biggest game of their lives. Liverpool need a solid performance to get the job done.

Gini, Hendo, and all of the front 3 were rested in one of the last two games. Milner wasn’t, so that makes me think he’s not planning on picking him for this one. Otherwise I agree with your team.

yes didn’t realize the Milner played the full games.

In that case, I agree that Ox (or Keita) will play which will give us a progressive ball carrying midfielder and technically more of scoring threat too.

regardless - play this one smart and we should be fine.

two questions, anyone know the draw for CL yet? I ask because if Liverpool finish first or second in the group stage would seed them better in the next stage?

And obviously Liverpool did beat this Red Bull team 3-0 (before they start crawling back). So obviously Klopp know how to beat them or else it wouldn't be 3-0 first.
But then how the heck they crawl back 3 goals?
It is complacent from Liverpool due to the 3-0 score. Or it because Red Bull grow into the game and just happen to get 3 goals back. I mean conceded 3 goals with that Liverpool defense is kind of shocking.

well I wish Liverpool good luck, and I believe Liverpool can beat them, or at least get a draw so you can go through. Because it embarrassing to be CL defending champion, 8-14 pts way ahead in the league, and then now crash out of the CL group stage and have to end up in Europa league. It just embarrassing for a quality team like Liverpool.

So WIN. Always aim for win.

And if Liverpool lose to Salzburg they can still qualify too - but only by scoring four away goals or more and only losing by one goal. A 5-4 defeat, for example.

------------- this quote I don't understand, how can this be possible, can someone explain to me?
I just look at the CL group stage table.

Liverpool have 10 pts and 3 goal difference.
Red Bull have 7 pts and 5 goal difference.

So if Liverpool loss (5-4 defeat). That will give Liv 7 GD. And RBull 10 GD.
RBull obviously took all the 3 pts from Liv due to a defeat (so they tie on pts, but GD RBull is higher).
So how can Liv go through?

The only way I see Liv go through is win or draw. NOT loss.

Jurgen Klopp has been handed a double fitness boost as Dejan Lovren and Gini Wijnaldum have been passed fit to make the trip but Adam Lallana has been left back in Merseyside.

toss up for me between chambo (i refuse to call him ox, and AOC is now taken) and shaq to who starts with gini and hendo in the midfield. i like them both, but i think that shaq has been more consistent in his recent appearances than alex...

but, then maybe naby gets another start to keep his form going?

it's a good problem to have.

I'd prefer Ox for this one - more athletic player and most of all, more defensive awareness, than Shaq.

It’s Keita or Ox. I can’t see Shaq starting but he will be available for sure.

Rather have Oxlade or Keita than Milner. Go at them hard. Milner off the bench to help lock it up later on.

Sorta goes without saying as well, that she (AOC) won't be going to Austria as a sub.
