The All-Encompassing Pro/Rel Thread on Soccer in the USA

Discussion in 'Soccer in the USA' started by bigredfutbol, Mar 12, 2016.

  1. In this new media age soccer in the USA shouldnot try to compete on the old platforms for attention, but create their own platform.
Fake news had almost no chance in the old platforms of the media, so they created their own.

I'd say Sheffield United, Leicester, Burnley and Union Berlin are over-performing. Bayern are having a terrible season and are still only 4 points off top spot.

I was extremely bored reading those standings until I got to the bottom three and Essence of the Sport kicked in. Norwich City is my new club.

They're only 5 points off the English Premier Cup playoffs.

Bremen get Paderborn this weekend; a chance to pull us a bit further above the drop.

Scoring more goals than anyone outside the Top 6, but also being tied for the second-worst goals allowed total in the Bundesliga, is very much on-brand for Bremen.

Man I wish we could've held on to Delaney a bit longer.

Nope. They wanted to appeal to the europoser so they’re just Tulsa now.

I partially agree with him. I was under the impression that MLS was shifting the schedule with the 2019 and 2020 seasons. They compressed the 2019 season in order to get the playoffs complete before the November FIFA dates. They couldn't start the 2019 season any earlier because of the CBA mandated time off between seasons. But by compressing the season and having MLS Cup in early November that would allow the season time off to start earlier, allowing the 2020 season to then start earlier and remove the compression we saw in 2019.

Only the 2020 season is now only starting a day or two earlier. So, yeah, its odd to build that much of a break in this year. I don't know if this is a one off for some reason and we'll get back to the ~7 weeks between MLS Cup and camp opening we used to have in future years or if this is a permanent change.

I do think his "Mickey Mouse" comments are a bit harsh though.

So Macclesfield Town looks to join Bolton and Bury in the group of 'EFL teams unable to meet their fixture requirements without using youth team members' this weekend. 3 teams and w're not even at the midway point of the season.

ST prices have been slashed to work out at between $8 and $18 per match. I wonder how Tulsa Athletic will react. Maybe they can work together.

I think speculators are realizing that third and fourth tier clubs aren't worth the gamble. Why take on a ton of debt when you can pick up a non- league club for next to nothing and bankroll them into the Football League?

I was guessing that the reason behind the whole thing was to establish a schedule under which the 2022 playoffs would be over and done with before the start of that year's November-December World Cup.

What difference does it make!? Why is it any time anybody names ANY club in ANY league you start harping on about 'bankrolling' lol. Perhaps you would be happier if the game was amateur worldwide? Maybe we should just have one Premier League containing 30'000 clubs and make sure also that everybody wins / nobody loses? The beauty of pro/rel is that for every loser there is also a winner (and visa versa), perhaps we can try banning relegation and have promotion only so that everyone wins? :-D

It makes a huge difference if you're a Bury or Macclesfield fan. Just pointing out a trend.
