I have to disagree with that. The UCL is the pinnacle yes the EPL top 4 will allow them to return but they are already in it and looking likely to advance out of group stage!

You play your best lineup, win the game, and figure out the next. Not every club is like Liverpool (is any?) where the next 5 guys up are as good as the starters on any given day at the preferred tactics.

love the confidence on the ball. I wish he had a better shot on him but, hopefully that will come in time.

He attracts more defensive attention than anyone else in the Chelsea lineup.

Yup... Check out the first goal for Tammy... CP makes a diagonal run towards the post that pulls the CD Mings with him... opening up space for the cross/header. He has a real knack for making creative runs w/ and w/o the ball that create space.
Furthermore, when you watch the last several games it is clear to me that he was just unfortunate not to get a single assist. So many good passes into dangerous spaces that just were not hit home. Lastly, I counted 3 specific times where CP was all alone and only needed the correct pass and he would be one-on-one with the GK and he never got the ball. The 1st one was early in the 1st half when Tammy did try and get him the ball but the last defender just got a touch on it. Then there was the two-on-one play where Mount didn't lift his head and allowed himself to get caught on the dribble. The last was when Tammy shot it over the bar instead of sliding it to CP to his left when they were both at the top of the box. Glad to see Tammy and Mount link up and get assists because CP needs a lot of help... but I hope they watch the tape and see these misses. CP is a total beast IMO and has a chance at being elite if he continues to develop.

If I were Lampard a video session would be held weekly where I would not do much else besides point out to everyone all the runs Pulisic makes that they are not rewarding with a pass. I know Pulisic is not perfect and he misses his share of open teammates, but it's pretty frustrating to see how often it happens to him.

As good as CP has been since his return from the bench... IMO, it can get quite a bit better. This is a young team and as long as Frank doesn't remove him from the starting lineup then I think they will be scoring 2+ goals a game on the regular down the stretch. It is strange... but I heard one of the Grumpy Pundits Hosts this morning asking what is wrong with CP? Pointing out that he didn't get a goal and Mount did... even though Mount plays behind him. Also, pointed out that he was subbed out. Normally I love this show.... but WTF? Seriously? Do these people watch the games?

Anyone with an all touches video for today?

Wait until they see CP being rested on the bench this Sat. They will go off the charts.

Was it Tommy Smith? It would make sense because he's an idiot.

It seems to happen to him a lot, at least partly because we focus so much on him on this board. I would guess that this happens a lot to his teammates too. If every good run is matched by a good pass, the average score of a game will be like 10-9.

    They don’t watch... just highlights
They obviously could care less about Lampard’s comments on Pulisic either.

1 goal a game would be astronomical. 2 would be world record holder material.

First, I agree he can improve. But I suggest that the improvement is well underway--more for his teammates than for CP. CP reads the developing action very quickly and acts on it very quickly. The other players need to act at the same speed. Everyone will get better. The speed of action is what Lampard really likes. The goal is to get everyone on the same page. Not sure that Mount will comply as he looks too selfish to me.

As for the Grumps, situation normal, just talking trying to rile listeners in the USA.

The team still isn't operating anywhere near its full potential yet.

Playing Azpi as a leftback thereby depriving Pul of having the runner to draw defenders out of position is a huge detriment to him and something that impeded Eden Hazard heavily while he was with us. So you're seeing the same kind of marking happening already because Pul has the pace to burn and skill to dance through defenses all on his own.

It is definitely frustrating to not see him get the ball in the best places but that's kind of just how things will be more a minute. The midfield is still a bit of a mess, our first choice CB is still hurt and our only true B2B scoring/assisting midfielder in RLC has been a long term injury. Lots of factors going on here.

Pul just has to keep on doing what he's doing.

    Very good analysis.

Kind of surprised at how well CP has filled Hazard's gap. He doesn't shoot as well as Eden and can get muscled off the ball a bit easier... but he has already shown the kind of skill that signals possible elite. I don't care if there is a glut of matches right now... CP needs to be starting every game. Even in the last two games w/o a goal/assist he still looks like the most dangerous player by far.

Getting RLC back will be a giant boost to my boys in blue... that guy is an absolute monster in the midfield. Team D still needs to be addressed and another option at striker would be nice

Right, but that's true for Liverpool too and did you see the lineup they deployed in their derby yesterday? The reality is man management is key for clubs in Europe with hopes of finishing top 4 (or better), and that at times (especially with injuries) is going to involve significant rotation.

This does not describe Liverpool... closer to City, assuming no injuries.

Well, at this rate he should surpass Hazard's first season goal scoring and assist numbers. Which is nuts. I knew he was talented but for him to come in and show Eden's exact kind of qualities is such a treat.

You don’t think that they do film sessions or that Lampard wouldn’t be i terested in opportunities missed? Also, just because a run is made and is open doesn’t mean the person with the ball has a clean or decent percentage way of getting it to them. Of course, there are times when just missed.

There is some---- interesting ?---commentary here.

First of all it is ridiculous to say Mount is too selfish as hot as his shooting boots are. Dude is on fire and even when he doesn't score he is going to harry and harrass the enemy all over the pitch. Selfish attacking players seldom play defense with the conviction and effort that Mount does. I suspect he is mostly doing what Frank wants (who strikes me as a gets what he wants or you don't get to play kind of gaffer.) Which considering he is the all time leading goal scorer might be along the lines of when in sight of goal shoot, shoot often and then shoot some more.

It seems odd that people are never happy with the player we have. Christian's shot is fine, he doesn't need a cannon for a leg ala Mount. His dribbling skills are elite, his passing is pretty good, his speed is top shelf, when given freedom to do so he causes total chaos in the box, etc. All he really has to do is continue to refine his game and get stronger.

I am pretty chuffed, I did not like CFC before. But now, I really like Lampard, I enjoy the youth, Tammy is remarkable to be such a young lad, Mount is a different sort of player, but Lamps sees something in him and is using him to great effect. CHO shows some promise, but I am not totally convinced with him just yet. Nevertheless get the defense sorted and get past Lille, who knows what CFC can do in the CL and top four would look nailed on.

Man I love this game and CFC makes it fun to watch.
