It was already addressed by the management that there are no plans to sell Sancho in the winter and that there is also no indications from Sancho's side that he wants that. I think Schick was rumored to be a target for us last year but he doesn't seem like a perfect fit for our system or the kind of striker Favre likes. I'd take Mandz if he'd be affordable and if he's content with being an option from the bench. But I also don't know anything about his current form.
I saw some combination rumours about Piatek. Dahoud, Zagadou - - > Piatek I read that yesterday and i dont know what to think about it, because i think Zaga has potential to be a great defender and on the other hand Piatek is something we desperately miss and he will be a great buy i think. Regardin on Dahoud, hmmm.. I think i lost faith in him...
I don't think it's BVB style to exchange players. (Am I forgetting a recent case of that??) I've been thinking since the summer that Mandzukic or Dzeko (better but probably harder since it seems he has fought to stay in Roma) would be great options. But Mandzukic can't wait to get out of Juve, he has a character we need, AND he may have a point to make against Bayern. All good points for us. Oh and he's tall and somewhat physical. Another option is Gabriel Barbosa, from Flamenco, since their season ends soon. But again, not BVB style to buy someone after they shine.
One player I think would even work well with "Favre`s" system would be Azmoun from Zenit as he is a type of player in between an Alcacer and Piatek/Schick (target man) who has pace and skill and feasts on through balls. I just don't know whether he`s attainable this winter.
Guys, what do you think about Can? We are one of the favourites to sign him im winter.. I dont know if im wrong, but isnt he the same type of midfielder as Axel, Weigl and Delaney? More defensive than offensive. I dont get it what would he bring to us..
Absolutely nothing. These sound like they're pure made up stuff. Unless we sell two of our midfields, which I don't like. We are over crowded in midfield.
If we dont qualify for Champions League and Europe do we really freaking care? I mean we wont get anyone to come here as a transfer if we cant qualify for either. Sell Sancho and get something in return before we get the Lewandoski treatment on a free transfer.
We need Sancho to qualify for Champions league next season. Why do you think not selling Sancho in January means he will go for nothing in 2022, cant we sell him after Euro 2020? This train of thought is very illogical and extreme, if Sancho was a Yank I bet you won't be so eager to get rid.
No selling Pulisic was the right idea if he wanted to leave. Just like Sancho. Sancho's value goes down if his contract has less time remaining on it. If I am not mistaken Sancho's contract runs out at the end of 2020 season (Spring 2021). Meaning his value goes down if you dont sell him by summer of 2020. He will have less than 12 months left if we dont sell him by summer which is obviously most likely scenario but he would fetch more value if we sold now is all. Im just saying if the shit gets worse before the midway point, sell him then
As for the Yank comment, I loved Pulisic and he brought me here but I love Dortmund now. Looking at how Pulisic is playing now though surely shows that Favre didnt know shit about what Pulisic was capable of hence the fact he would play Larsen and damn near anyone else over Pulisic.
Sancho's contract is till 2022. It's likely he won't extend but we win nothing by selling him this winter. As for Pulisic, it's not like he wasn't given chances last season. In fact, he started that season as a starter. He just didn't perform well enough until the contract situation got cleared and particularly towards the end of the season when he had a good phase. It's also a bit funny how the narrative changed by his fans (not you). He didn't look exactly brilliant for Chelsea in his first league games. After getting benched, several guys in the Pulisic forum then said he should have stayed at Dortmund, how bad the Chelsea move was and how inept Lampard is. Now that has changed to BVB not knowing how to use Pulisic.
Favre does truly not know how to use many players. I understood a lot of Pulisic issues last year. Why prefer a guy who has been sold to another club. Pulisics development meant nothing to us onoce he was loaned back to us.. I never understood why Favre wouldnt pul Pulisic and Sancho together on the wings for more than one game. Pulisic was never given a chance to get comfortable with the starting XI at all. He would start then sit and etc etc....I wanted Pulisic to stay but only I wanted him to prove himself in Germany more. I get that we arent an EPL top tier team but we arent a stepping stone either. Sadly Im beginning to think that some of the younger players feel that we are. No one needs a good run of form more than we do right now. Im worried about the club future the way things are going. We spent all this money this year that we reinvested from his sale and have absolutely nothing to show for it.
No, I think the time is now. Most probably he’s making those behavior issues deliberately, after talking to som clubs. I think now is the best moment, and highest price. For those worrying not to qualify to CL for next year without him, I’d say that with that behavior he won’t contribute much. Maybe it gets better with a new coach. With Favre he thinks probably that to make a better effort is wasted anyway.
But that is the narrative I disagree with. I'd agree that there was much hope involved with giving too many starts to Bruun Larsen after good performances in the second team, in test games and after his first start that turned out great. But at the start of the season, it wasn't clear that Pulisic would leave, he just didn't extend his contract. The coach, especially a new one, has to put the success of the team first. Immediate success is almost always the priority over longterm considerations. And if that narrative were true, why play him after his transfer was finalized in the winter window? Pulisic started the season as the starter but he also had injury issues throughout the season. Then Sancho exploded and took his spot. In addition to Bruun Larsen, Guerreiro worked his way back into the lineup after being out of favor for so long, especially after deciding the game against Atletico. And to be honest, Guerreiro's style just seems a bit more mature and polished and I preferred that if you already have a very young winger with Sancho. There were many factors and maybe a few decisions on Favre's part that didn't turn out as planned but as history shows, BVB isn't a club that benches players that leave the club. You play if you deserve to be in the lineup.
I repeat myself but I see no gain for us by selling in the winter window. In the summer, he still has 2 more years for us and possibly a good Euro. Also, he's one of our top performers despite his issues. Got benched for the Barca game, comes in and is the best player. And then he continues to score in the next game despite all the media noise. Even in games when he isn't even close to his best, he's still vital for the team's success. His numbers don't lie. Unless we repeat the Pulisic deal (loan for the second half of the season), then selling him in the winter would be exactly what we criticized the management for in the past: Lack of ambition, loser mentality and prioritizing a few million Euros over the chance to win titles. I'll enjoy Sancho playing for us as long as he does. I cannot understand the wish to part ways with him as soon as possible for the debatable prospect of getting more money.
We’ll, maybe, but for more than £ 21 m, at least 30, and then we’ll have to buy somebody else. Afraid Dahoud is going first
Weigl was amazing in his 2 first years in Dortmund, i thought he would become top 5 defensive midfielder in the world. He was one of the best and most talented player in our squad and one day he just got out of the combinations, i can't remember what coach. I think that Julian will fit well in Barca 4-3-3 system as that center defensive midfielder just like Busq
Rumors from Bild so take it with a grain of salt. Could all be bs or not: - Mandzukic doesn't want to return the Bundesliga and reportedly already declined an interest by BVB - We are interested in Salzburg's Haaland who has made quite some noise in the CL. Releae clause is relatively low at 30 million. The other side is, he wants to play in the PL and we are yet again seen as a stepping stone. And his agent is our old friend Raiola...the report claimed that is a positive because apparently Zorc is on good terms with him which I found strange.
I think we have zero chance to sign him with Leipzig involved. Leipzig will sold Timo in summer and buy Haland, classic Salzburg-Leipzig deal, thats far more realistic
I would rather take some 24-25 year old guy like Piatek, who is alreday established and cash 40M, than another kid who would play 1 or max 2 season and go away like usual. I certainly dont want Giroud who is 33, slow as hell and his peak is past... What do you think about that young striker from Freiburg?
