Bürki Akanji Hummels Zagadou Hakimi Witsel Guerreiro Sancho Reus Hazard Brandt A bit of a change to our 4 FB lineup against Barca but don't worry, we have 4 FBs and another CB on the bench to really lock the result down and 1.5 guys for the offense should we need a goal. Let's see whether Klinsmann of all people outsmarts us. Hertha is on a 4 game losing streak and changed their coach this week. I can't say that Favre isn't trying new formations and this could actually be his last chance.
Sancho scores, nice pass by Brandt. Decent start by us but many mistakes on both sides. But at least we aren't sleep-walking through the first half again.
Hazard makes it 2:0 with the next attack. Passing looks good so far but Hertha is making it quite easy for us.
We will won, i knew this will happen and i think it will be an easy one today.. And this will be alibi to Watzke and Co not to sack LF. This win won't change nothing..
Our game hasn't gotten better the last 10 minutes. We already started to cede control and let them attack while we lose the ball too fast. And now Hertha scores.
While I agree LF must be sacked (last month!!), we won't win this game easy... With LF it's never easy... And as I write this, I am vindicated... 2-1
I was wrong, nothing is easy with LF.. Wow.. We desperately need a change at the bench, the players need a real leader, someome who will go wild by the sideline when things aren't going well.. What scares me the most is the lack of winning mentality that Favre brought to this team, that body language of players is.. It doesn't even exist
That yellow/red sucks after we finally gained control of the game for several minutes almost to the end of the half. That is much more how the team should play but then we lose the ball and get caught in defense again. It also didn't help that Sancho was fouled which took away the passing option for Guerreiro. The ref could have intervened there and the red doesn't happen. Our game wasn't that bad. I liked those runs of several guys in an attempt to beat the offside trap to keep the defense honest and it also made them pressing harder to a degree. That is an element I didn't see often this season. Just one good pass can bring you into a great opportunity. If we somehow win this game, it's good. If we lose, there is the excuse of being down a man. Although, that didn't help Kovac.
Only 1 sub after almost 90 minutes. Surely there are guys on the bench who could help by being not as tired as those who had to play a man down for a half.
We win but that was nerve-wrecking. Credit to guys like Hazard and Sancho for their defensive contribution. But unfortunately it also needs to be said that in his current form, we are almost playing a man down with Reus. The red card may make it harder to judge but we are still not playing like a top team, even with 11 men.
Good thing we held out for the win, cant understand anyone rooting for us to lose vs idiots like Ibisevic and Selke. Reus needs a break. He is sleepwalking, even the most basic passes went out of play.
Reus was always more a brand-marketing player, than a top constant player.. He was never a player for big matches, i can't remember 3 big games in top matche's, can't remember when he played well against Bayern also. I mean, he did have a bunch of injuries throw his career, but when he was healthy, in a bunch of important games, he was almost invisible on the pitch, i never get that. I also dont get when someone says he is one of the biggest players in Dortmund history.. In what, styling his hair?
That's nonsense about Reus being more of a marketing player. And with all the things you said recently, I'm really wondering whether you are even watching the games. He was player of the season twice and was great for most of the last season when he won that trophy as well. And he also isn't a player who hides in big matches. He was decent in the Bayern game last season and I also remember several good matches against Madrid. But he has a bad season so far. Like another poster said, today it was like he's sleep-walking. In one situation, he basically walked the ball out of the field with no immediate pressure.
I never questioned his quality as a player and the fact he is a Dortmund kid, but he was a never a player for big matches. I am watching Dortmund for over 20 years now, i remember Rosicky who was a 2x player Reus is and i am not saying Tomas had more football quality than him, he had something that can't be train, som that you are born with and that's leadership, mentality, "ball's" .. Im sorry and i know many will agree with me (especially young ones who dont even know who Tomas is...) but Marco was and never will be that type of guy on the pitch. I repeat, his football ability is pretty high but i cant say the same about mentality...
I know Rosicky, he was my favorite player while he played for us and I watched Arsenal games because of him. In terms of influence for the team, I don't see him as 2*times the player that is Reus, certainly not after last season. I don't know how one can say Reus isn't a player for big matches but it's getting too stupid to debate something like this.
This was much better! Monsieur Favre, I humbly hope that this is a lesson that change is a good thing. It could have fired back to try something new when you are under such pressure. So I suggest that in the future you be more flexible more often, so that when you need it the players are ready for it. Hummels needs a break, so this works out for us too. And I agree with everyone that Reus badly needs a break. Hazard is the best option to put up front, given Alcacer's injury. Must bring in a striker in January. Stupid, bad mistake! Players did show some character in the 2nd half, and 3-4-3 worked out well somehow to show off our skills in the 1st half. I think it played well into our talents. We have 3 good CB's (form aside). We have 2 great wing-backs. And #8 is Brandt's best position. Somehow, I feel that this wasn't entirely Favre's call. Or he finally sat down with the players and listened to them.
Good thing is that smelly Bayern lost and next fixture they play at BMG and we play home with Fortuna
