IWSL has a copy of the police report. They informed said player that tourney insurance would cover the medical bills. That is one issue though. The bigger issue is who else would have covered the event if the big two or an affiliate did not.
Looks like Campton somehow got a team into the boys ECNL Vegas event. Have to be the SK connection from back when he was with Sockers ECNL. Still can't imagine them having a boys team that's appropriate for even that level. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1k-OOzkGtWnbsfqb45TYqzYUrfKIM33QUZk9qcXAdynI/edit#gid=0
Unfortunately I do not know the current level of Campton boys teams but in the past they were definitely at this level. A (very brief/unscientific) look at the teams listed and I see maybe 1/4 - 1/3 of the teams are Boys DA 2nd teams. I believe Campton's Boys teams play in MDL which also is home to a few of the Midwest Boys DA clubs 2nd teams.
That's a fair point about boys ECNL being heavy on DA second teams. What sets Campton apart is they are the worst DA in the Midwest and arguably the country, and their second teams struggled in MDL and dropped from the platform this year. By U15 most of their talent ends up leaving for greener pastures. A handful of former Campton DA players end up at Sockers every year and get sprinkled into second and third teams with the occasional first teamer. Each year it seems one ends up at Fire Academy too. Their older boys teams that used to be competitive in the NISL NPL have also disappeared. It's a shame really. That club used to be solid. Won an NPL national championship not long ago and now just hanging onto existence. When the DA drops the U13 age I bet Campton go with it. If they're smart they'll merge or join one of those club conglomerates i.e. IP or Rush otherwise in a few years that could be all she wrote.
Wow. That's a nightmare. I've helped run a sanctioned tournament for a club in the past. The state sanctioning body had insurance, as did the club. And the tournament location (not owned/controlled by the club) required the club to add insurance riders adding the host location to its coverage. Vendors had to provide their own insurance, too, with similar riders. Just one aspect of the fun side of running a tournament ...
Last game of fall DA season in the books. Fire u13 vs Internationals 10:0. Six our trip for nothing. Bad for both teams. They should open up DA for moree teams and create pyramid structure.
I understand that DA teams had to have some additional features not available to every club. I think turf field is one of them and games have to be recorded. This season most of our away games were not recorded even when we played in the showcase.
I think USYS National league is definitely better than the boys ECNL and not too far off girls ECNL; at least in the Midwest.
I know you guys are all about Sockers (yea BDA and GDA!)... but now I get the sense you are just trolling OB.
Not me - I hate everyone! I think in time the players who want to play year round will gravitate to Sockers - at least for the GDA. That said they need to recruit like never before because short of their u11 team - they have absolutely nothing in the pipeline. Best boys will always gravitate to Sockers - doubt that will ever change.
All of those platforms are fundamentally different. MRL/USYS NL = team-based platform NPL = some are team-based (NISL), some are club (MDL & boys ECNL) DA/girls ECNL = club-based platform Qualification criteria are different in all of them. The philosophies are all different. To compare them by "quality" isn't really applicable. Even from the perspective of "the best": its safe to say the majority of best players are in DA (YNT kids). The majority of top clubs and thus teams are in DA or girls ECNL. But both of those leagues have completely different goals and philosophies. This might mean that to one player ECNL is the best because its flexible but to another player the DA is the best because they train/play more. Both have good competition and exposure to the next level. To some players that want to play more locally or with their friends the USYS pathway could be the best. In the end it really depends on what experience the player wants that determines what platform is the best for them.
I think that depends on region. I would argue In Region II the majority of top teams come from USYS Nat/MCL. Followed by ECNL and DA. But I think that is very different depending on what part of the contry you are in. However too say that could not be re shuffled into a pyramid is nonsense IMO.
Last year the reigning USYS Natl Champ played a Chicago DA in a November friendly and lost 1-5. A state cup champ and USYS Natl qualifier lost to Eclipse ECNL in a Rockford tournament. A state cup finalist this year shares players with a DA and they're not the DA's top players. Outside of looking at everyones favorite ranking sites theres very few outliers to this. There might be a couple USYS teams that are better than a couple ECNL/DA teams at their age, but it surely isn't the majority.
It seems like there’s no shortage of grumbling about Sockers, either (although maybe Ryan and Volk cancel each other out.). Which clubs staff the fewest trolls?
That's a great question lol. One club employs a coach with a history of home-wrecking, a coach that is currently suspended from USYS indefinitely, a coach that threw an inappropriate end of the year party at their house with HS girls which got them fired from their previous club, and a coach that has an unquestionable history of fat-shaming and cussing at kids. They're in the GotSoccer Premier Elite tier of trolling. Grumbling is found everywhere. No coach is universally liked. At some point they'll have to make a hard decision that positively impacts one kid and negatively impacts another.
