We will see. If true, this could be huge. They had better find a suitable replacement, but most anybody should be an upgrade.
Nelson has also reportedly been relieved of all "soccer functions" . Supposedly the team is hiring or has hired a Technical Director. I'm assuming that decision has been made and they requested to hire their own manager. This team looks to be in full reboot .
I figured we wouldn't see a new manager until the GM situation was figured out. It was never really a huge surprise that Pauno wasn't going to be fired until the end of the season once the Open Cup was over. No manager would have wanted the job with the expectation that the front office was going to shake up in the offseason. He'd be a dead man walking.
Nelson isn't going anywhere , unless Garber has his new MLS VP of ".."position fully figured out and set up.
Sorry, meant "TD". If the team is indeed going to hire a guy like Ernest Tanner has in Philly that would have made the manager's job toxic until he was hired.
The Tribune has "announced" it. Sources: Veljko Paunovic fired as Chicago Fire head coach https://www.chicagotribune.com/spor...0191113-nef5qzyhorf47i2axobhnagcre-story.html Of course, they merely mention The Athletic article. It is also on mlssoccer.com: Report: Chicago Fire part ways with head coach Veljko Paunovic https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/11/13/chicago-fire-part-ways-head-coach-veljko-paunovic If this is not true, there will be some eggy faces later today.

Good, let them all go. Start fresh. By the way, over at Chicago-fire.com, go to the Front Office "Soccer Operations" https://www.chicago-fire.com/club/soccer-operations ACCESS DENIED You are not authorized to access this page. SEARCH Enter your keywords
He has no soul. Please enlighten on what, specifically, you mean. Edit: I found the "official, official" announcement with the quote from the former 'soul mate' of Veljko Paunovic. “Four years ago, Pauno and the staff accepted a challenge to help establish a football culture at the Fire,” said Chicago Fire President and General Manager Nelson Rodríguez. “Their efforts helped revitalize the Club with a competitive spirit and a dedication to always putting football first. Pauno and his staff were relentless in their devotion to the Club and for that we are immeasurably thankful.” Sentence 1-"Pauno and the staff" failed miserably in establishing a football culture at the Fire. Sentence 2-They failed even more miserably in "revitalizing" the Club (one playoff game in 4 years, with a top 5 payroll?). WTF is a "competitive spirit"?!? There have to be dedicated to "putting football first." That is, literally, their f*cking jobs. Sentence 3-I suppose they were devoted to the Club. But if that is all that is needed for Nelson to be "immeasurably thankful," what do those of us who have been "devoted" to the Club since 1997 get? Oh, yeah, we received complimentary season tickets. Thanks, Mr. Mansueto! I like this much more than Nelson Rodriguez' immeasurable thanks.
Why must you make me cry, again and again? If the Fire hire my one true "man-crush" I would be elated.
We need to change the name of this thread, since it is no longer "Reportedly" It is official. New thread title: "Paunovic Finally Fired"? And/or merge into the Deathwatch Thread.
He needs to be hired to be Trump’s campaign manager. Nobody lies easier and with less conscious. Also, Nelly knows how to lose better than anyone I know.....
