So did Modric, Keylor & Ramos, guess they should be starting at 40 too? His favorites actually used to perform, that's the difference.
Zidane is the greatest manager in modern European history, and the second greatest manager in the Club’s history. He has his weaknesses but let’s be realistic here - he’s trying to break and remould an historic team. A team that, by the way, wasn’t that historic when he took it from Benitez. He will still get sacked at the end of the season if he doesn’t win a trophy, because that’s how we roll, but I still want him around for many years because when he gets the squad that he likes, I think he will do amazing things with it.
He hasn’t been doing these outside of the foot passes much lately, he used to be the king at them though.
he still does it, the last game (or maybe a couple games ago?) he played for us he did a beautiful outside the boot pass. Thing of beauty to watch.
But Modric is the most complete, the only one that could play xaviniesta like while being a warrior and do the dirty work at the same time defensively. Zidane didn't win 4 champions leagues as a player...only 1.
Zidane is the best, but pound-for-pound, Modric has the greatest offensive + defensive output of any player I have ever seen.
He doesn't as he doesn't play much near the box and does not have the best scoring instincts. But by offensive I meant - playmaking output ie. passing, ball retention, etc. I don't think he's the best midfielder of all time - but in terms of sheer work on the field, I don't think anybody of his quality compares
Modric balled out today. Incredible game by him. Watching him at his best is watching poetry in motion. A true artist of the game.
Ye but he doesn’t produce many goals or assists but somehow he’s been probably the best midfielder in football for years now. He must be doing something good in the offense part of the game. Just for comparison Prosinecki was more technically skilled then Modric but never became a great player as he didn’t have work ethic heart and determination of Luka.
Zidane earned his superstar status when he was only 26 years old winning the World Cup. He was followed by some stunning goals that every fans in the world saw on highlight films over andf over again. Modric started with Tottenham. I did not see much of him there, but he was never considered a potential Ballon D'or candidate type of a player. When he joined us, my expectation was lower. We already had Xabi,Ozil and Kaka.I even rated Khedria ahead of him.... he was a better defensively, I thought. So Modric had to earn his status. Croatia did not do much until 2018. With Real Madrid, he had to earn it. As for Real Madrid, Modric is definitely ahead of Zidane. Zidane was good with us, but Modric is special. With due respect, the fans would love Zidane the momnet he signed for us.... because he was Zidane. He added a stunning goal in his first season in a CL Final. Basically, he did not have to do much after that. He won over the fans. He only had a steady career with us after that. He had moments of magic....he had some periods of inconsistency, but it was never liked Bale or R9.
