Yeah down 0-2 to AZ... doubtful that he plays now especially since they are down a man as well...

Unless PSV just punts in the second half to see what Richie can do.

  2. Yup. AZ has the best attack of the Eredivisie and an upcoming midfield star for the Orange team. So to lose a player that early against such a dangerous team means somehow trying to park the bus for the rest of the match.

  3. Anyway, this red card could mean Richie comes in the picture as now two midfielders are out with suspensions.

Were there any injuries or players who needed rest that opened up a spot for Richie, or just his talent?

I’m wondering if we can expect to see him on the bench.

It's mostly injuries and suspension. 3 players who could play the 8 and 10 - Bergwijn, Ihattaren, and Hendrix; were made unavailable. He got called up in their place because he's one of the best players on a woeful reserve team.

So I guess you could say it's a mixture, but more due to circumstance. He's been pretty good, but has still only scored or assisted in a lone game, and that was against a Jong side.

May get more call ups in the interim because another cm got a red card in this weekend's match and they have 21 man benches. But he has some development to go before he's truly 1st team ready.

  10. 2 red card suspensions, of whom one is a midfielder, but also two players injured of whom Ihattaren is the creative engine of the midfield at 17 years old and if he choses to represent the Orange team, the partner of Frenkie de Jong at the EC2020. Now with the red card for Thomas 2 midfielders are out with suspensions, but I expect Ihattaren to be back. Still room for Richie with those two reds suspensions I guess.

Even if he's not ready yet, it's nice to see how close he is to the first team after such little time at the club.

I saw half the game. He played pretty well in a ball circulaty, ball pressury type of way. Not a ball winnery or creativity type of way. Wasn't taking on players in the final 3rd and hitting the fundamental but not killer pass. What he did well was evade and release the ball quickly. Made sensible decisions. Played hard. He had one key pass that I saw where he picked out the outlet streaking into the box, but played it behind him so he had to delay and that allowed the d to recover as well as hurt the angle. Could have scored, but odds were against. I didn't see the goal, but from what I've read he wasn't closely involved. 1-1 final.

Improved from the beginning of the season, but imo more work to do to make PSV's 1st team bench outside of circumstance like recently.

  16. Yup. It takes some time ( a season) to get accustomed to the way of play and the adjusting to playing against physical stronger men. That's not something you (apart from outliers) do in a jiffy.
However he's improving in all departments, so things move in the right direction.

The thing with Ledezma is that he doesn't have much time. He's at PSV right now where he's getting probably around the non-EU minimum salary for teenagers: €218,000.

If he stays at PSV next year, his salary must go up to €436,202 - the minimum salary in the Eredivisie for non EU's who are over 20.

PSV can afford more than just about all Eredivisie teams - but that is still not a small salary either.

So Ledezma has a lot to prove this year. He has to really convince PSV that he can be a productive first-team player sooner than later.

My guess is that he gets a new contract with PSV. But he has a higher bar to reach than a typical reserve team player who borders on the first team.

I think he's on pace to win a backup/attacking sub spot by next preseason, after an offseason of physical development. So that would more than justify his salary bump.

When is the deadline to pick up his option? I think they would pick it up before preseason on a projection, but it would help to have that audition first.

Wasnt it a 2.5 year contract? which would mean he has all of this season and next to show PSV hes worth it.

I thought UEFA & FIFA don’t allow unilateral options (but forgot to tell MLS)? Is he under contract next season or no?

  21. That number is going up considerably, because both PSV and Ajax have raised the salary ceilings for their clubs considerably higher. Might as well say...what ceiling?
Other Eredivisie clubs want some adjustment to it, as with the coming rise of it effectively only Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord are able to pay those sums, thus excluding the rest from hiring highly talented and promising youth players from abroad.

That's the previous match. Yesterday against Telstar he was held scoreless and assistless again in another 1-1 draw. We need to start seeing more production from him against senior sides and outside that one game. Yet to record a goal or helper against either.
