A couple of thoughts about the game. Since I was up close and personal with my computer screen....thanks espn+.

The first Penilla breakaway; 2 on 1 with the goalie and the other one is your top scorer (relative to games played) and you don't get him the ball!! It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if we scored first.

The other thing that I noticed is that the Revs level of talent/technical ability doesn't match up with Atlanta's. Atlanta's overall talent level is better than the Revs. Not that the Revs can't beat hem in a 1 game playoff, see Newcastle and Wolverhampton this weekend. But I expect a repeat of the results on the 19th.

Having said that, I am very excited to see what happens this winter. I expect BA to be making some moves and it will be interesting to see what the team looks like next year.

Couldn't agree more. And doubly frustrating since everyone, including Penilla, knows he doesn't have a left foot. I hope Arena reamed him out for the stupidity of that play.

I agree with this though I also expect that Atlanta spent more time on quick precision passing drills while our boys were doing wind sprints. Some of the apparent skill gap will be reduced with Arena having more time to give to precision and better, quicker decision making. And, of course, some of the change is going to require a talent upgrade.

Agree with most all of what has been said. To summarize and add my thoughts:
    1. Penilla just is not as consistently dangerous as I remember him from last year. Not sure why, or if it is based upon reality, or if it's just in comparison to Gils.
    2. Bou, to me, seemed a bit lethargic to me. Just not as quick or as able to keep the ball as I've seen in other games.
    3. Why the heck was L. Caicedo on the field to start the second half!??!!
    4. Zahibo for me (like others) is hot and cold -- I thought he got caught a bit ball watching on the first goal...just turned off for a second. Not good. A beast at other times, but if you're giving up goals, that is not good! Nagbe runs right by him.
    5. Next time we play them will be a different game -- will be interested to see if Gressel is good to go by then. He was a difference maker on the field for sure.

Part of me wanted the Revs to win so bad, to make up for the 2 prior, embarrassing performances in Atlanta. But the larger, selfish part of me wanted the Revs to lose so I could see them here again in 2 weeks. I also didn't want the Revs to reveal too much, to not try too hard, so Atlanta wouldn't know what to expect when the real Revs show up in 2 weeks.

I got what I asked for, so now it's up to you, Bruce. You have two weeks to figure this out. Let me celebrate a Revs victory here in Atlanta so these spoiled Atlanta fans can suck it for once!

Spoiled? Have you compared the pro sports success between Boston and Atlanta?!

Hey, Gunner. I was the guy in Sec 103 Row 12 last Sunday. Are you in the front row of Sec 103?

    1. I hate the Pats

    2. I hate the Red Sox

    3. As a Revs fan who really hates the Pats, every square inch of Foxborough Stadium is a constant reminder to how unimportant the Revs and their fans are

    4. When you want your new coach fired 4 games into the season after you've won MLS Cup, you're spoiled

    5. Every Revs fan would love to have a game day atmosphere like Atlanta's, but it's the success and history of all of those other Boston teams that makes the Revs as irrelevant as the Kennesaw State football team

    6. Are you familiar with Revs' history at all?

Aye, that was me. Small internet! Next time I'd be happy to buy you drink, if you want.

I know we're blessed given the ownership here in Atlanta. Blank has been as ideal an owner I could imagine. My wish is for everyone across MLS to have the same.

I do know about the particular struggles the Revs have had and feel the acute sting that must come from seeing the owner achieve such success with one franchise yet seemingly ignore his other. It sucks and I haven't begrudged any Revs fan who's protested against Mr. Kraft and Co. Hopefully the hiring of Arena is a step toward a big turn around, as I feel New England could mirror the success we've seen in Seattle and Atlanta.

That was a select group of fans and not, I would say, the masses. A case of Internet accessibility bringing a few discontented voices to the top. As the franchise builds a history more fans will gain the necessary perspective to better deal with such scenarios. (Hopefully)

    Cheers.

The best thing about the internet is that voices that otherwise wouldn't be heard have a way to express themselves. The worst thing about the internet is that any idiot with an opinion can be legitimized. They are basically the exact same thing, depending on your perspective.

Yeah, Houston fans were obnoxious when they inherited a championship team, but they've settled down when reality set in. I found the Seattle newbies to be worse, since they would chime in on our Kraft grousing to say that all we needed to do was to be exactly like Seattle and all the world's problems would be solved. They must have taken an MBA with the South Park Gnomes! Yeah, we all wish we had Atlanta-like success. And of course the parallels are even more stark than with other teams, but if you've been reading much here lately, you'd see that there hasn't been this much optimism in these parts since Jermaine Jones bossed the midfield!
