This ain't your daddy's Republicans. The share of the Whitelandian vote isn't close to what it was in 1974. They'll die on this Dotard hill.

An equally big problem would be that a GOP president or presidential candidate would have to decide whether to pardon Trump and Trumpworld, and both options are terrible.

But, both in terms of that decision and for the bigger question on impeachment, they're at a point where there aren't any actual good options left. They have to decide which of the bad options they can live with.

I could see a secret deal where they (Senate GOP) spare Pence (so Pelosi doesn't become president), but dump Trump, Barr, Pompeo, Giuliani, etc.

A deal wouldn't have to be secret, the House is not going to impeach a President Pence. With Nov 2020 coming so soon it wouldn't be worth it anyway. What the House can't stop is President Pence's pardoning of Barr, Pompeo et. al.

In my "vision," Pence would fire Barr and Pompeo, or they would resign.

The chance of Trump serving out his whole 1st term is at least 85%. It is still not out of bounds that he wins a 2nd term.

So if by chance he wins a second term does that mean we have to endure another 4 years of impeachment bullshit?

Now do you think it's bullshit because he hasn't committed impeachable acts, or because you think it's pointless since Congress won't act to remove him regardless?

I think it is because this what the Dems think is the best way to defeat him. They have said as much.

So it's not the impeachment inquiry you have a problem with, it's what you perceive as Democrats' motives for doing it?

And I haven't seen them say as much, do you have a link? I've actually seen more of them saying the opposite, that he should be defeated at the ballot box, which is one reason it took them so long to begin the inquiry, until the Ukraine situation made it even more painfully obvious what we're dealing with here.

Yes I have a problem with their motives. And I'll find you a link, but I think you are being dishonest or lazy if you pretend not to have seen them.

Naturally, the same people who made themselves look foolish by insisting that fake Obama administration scandals were actually Watergate II will follow that up by casting doubt on the investigation of real and obvious high crimes by Trump. How could it be otherwise?

Nope, haven't seen that, I'm thinking you follow news with a more obvious right wing slant than I do and they played something like that up. Most Democrats I've seen talk about the issue thought impeachment wasn't likely to remove Trump from office considering the current nature of the Senate, so said defeating him at the polls was the best option. And that only changed over the last couple weeks with the Ukraine situation.

There are no legit, non-partisan defenses of Trump. Perhaps one could argue against removal from office, but denying that he has been corrupt and deeply inappropriate with his relationships with foreign leaders is gaslighting, no more and no less.

The problem with donny tiny hands if he wins another 4 years is he might try and, 'Do a Nixon/Saint Ronnie' and grab another period, (or more), on top.

Can we just skip to the episode where DOJ opens their Biden investigation?

We already know Billy Boy has been flying around doing the leg work
